जब दावानल शांत हुआ और वह खरगोश वहाँ से हटा तब हाथी प्रसन्न हुआ की उसने खरगोश की जान बचायी। फिर हाथी ने अपना पैर नीचे रखने की कोशिश की,
पर वह एकदम अकड गया था,
और फिर वह नीचे गिरा और वही उसकी मृत्यु हो गयी ।
When the fire stopped, all the animals and the rabbit left. The elephant felt happy that he saved the rabbit's life. Then, the elephant tried to put down his foot, but he could not, because his body had become stiff. Instead, he fell down and died.
