શ્રીયુત કેવલી ભગવાન પંચભૂત શરીરના ત્યાગ કરીને સમ~ શ્રેણીવાળી ગતિએ ઉંચે લેાકના અગ્રભાગ સુધી જાય છે. કિન્તુ લેાકાગ્રંથી ઉંચે જવાને કાઇ પણ સમર્થ નથી; કેમકે અલેકાકાશમાં ગતિ, સ્થિતિ વિગેરેને સહાય કરનાર ધર્માસ્તિકાયાદિક પદાર્થી વિદ્યમાન નથી. ’–૨૦

સ્પષ્ટી આત્મા કરહિત થતાં સમશ્રેણી પ્રયાણ કરે છે; કિન્તુ તિઅે અથવા તેા કાષ્ટ ખીજી દિશામાં જતા નથી. સર્વ કર્મના ક્ષય થતાં ઊર્ધ્વગમન કરવું એ આત્માના સ્વભાવ છે. જેમ પાણીમાં રહેલ માટીના લેપવાળી તુંબડી, તેના ઉપરના મેલને સર્વથા નાશ થતાં પાણી ઉપર આવે છે તેમ આત્માને વળગેલા કર્મ રૂપ મેલ નષ્ટ થતાં તે પણુ ઊ ગમન કરે છે.
जीवा ऊर्ध्वगतिस्वभावसहिता अध्यावृतिप्रेरणात् तिर्यग्यांत्यध एव वाघइतयः स्युः पुद्गलाश्रोर्ध्वगाः । लोकाग्रं समुपागतस्तु भगवान् नायात्यधो गौरवा Sभावात्प्रेरकमन्तरेण न पुनः कुर्वीत तिर्यग्गतिम् ॥ २१ ॥
Souls even though they have the natural tendency of going upwards, go slantwise or downwards as they are directed by Karmans; and the matter which has the tendency of going downwards goes up (in case a force is so exerted). The divine soul that has reached the topmost part of Loka, does not come down as it has no weight and it does not go crosswise as there is none to so direct it. ( 21 )
