The trouble that arose after twelve years of famine, laid the foundation of divison in Jain sect. The rule regardin the dress code for the ascetics that they should go necked altogether. Some adopted white dress. Those who had migrated refused to hold fellowship with those who remained behind at home. This difference gave birth to first two sects, the Digamber & Swetamber. Each of this main divison is subdivided into different minor sect, which is not of relevance here.
