The MSs used for the edition The same six MSs which had been used for the edition of the VP, Vol. I have been used for the present edition. In addition to them, one more MS. designated in this edition as Cha was subsequently obtained from the Oriental Institute, Baroda (Acc. No. 13218 ). As regards the Tibetan translation of the VP, the sDe dGe edition of the Tibetan bStan hGyur (Vol. 40, text No. 1347, Dharma Publishers, U.S. A., 1981 ) has been used, the details of which can be seen in the edition of the VP, Vol. I (p. xxxi.. We are thankful to the authorities of the libraries and institutions from which we have obtained the MS-material for the present edition.
