Foreword
With deep delight, we publish the Astaka-prakarana of the great Haribhadrasūri (active c. A. D. 745-785). This work presents a profound discussion on the 32 different topics of Jainism and treats its principles in considerable detail. The author moots very important issues in the background of these principles and puts forth their logical answers from the Jainistic perspective. The publication is thus of far-reaching significance. Over two decades ago, this work was translated in Hindi by late Dr. Krishna Kumar Dixit. The earlier unpublished translation is now published here together with the original Sanskrit text. It is indeed a matter of profound regret that Dr. Dixit is no longer with us. It is hoped that this book will be useful to the students of Jainism.
