service to the cause of Indology by publishing this work which, besides throwing light on some of the doubtful episode of our ancient history, also corrects of the errors which have surreptitionally crept up into the writings of earlier writers.
As regards the historical personalities and events enumerated in this work, difference of opinion is bound to occur, for, the present work is more a piece of literature than a sober historical account in which legends and traditions have taken the place of scientific and analytical approach which is but natural. Nonetheless, one would have to concede that some of the facts explained in this work had never been revealed before and of which we had no knowledge whatsoever. I have no doubt that the present study will serve as a guide, and give a new direction, to the researchers in the field which undoubtedly is the greatest merit of this work.
