________________ Yε (T) This manuscript was also obtained through Sri Madanchandji Gauthi from Gadhaiya Library, Sardarshahar. Each page contains 26 leaves and 52 pages. Each page is 10-1/2" long and 4-1/2" wide. Each page contains 15 lines with 46 to 48 letters in each line. The manuscript concludes with"uvaiyam samattam, granthagra 1200, Subhamastu cha. fri," but the year is not mentioned therein. Looking at its leaves, letters and illustrations, the copy must be belonging to the 17th century. (T) This manuscript of the vṛtti was obtained through Shri Madanchandji Gauthi from Gadhaiya Library, Sardarshahar. It has 75 leaves and 150 pages. Each leaf contains 13 lines with 55 to 60 letters in cach line. The size of the leaf is 10-1/4"x4-1/4". The manuscript is revised and clear. In the eulogy the following is inscribed-"Subham bhavatu, kalyāṇamastu. lekhakapāthakayośca bhadram bhavatu, cha. samvat 1996 varse Märgashrga sudi 1, bhaume likhitam, cha sri yadrom pustake drstvä, tädṛśum likhitam mayayadi buddhamaluddham vá, mama dogo na diyatell cha, cha. (..) Variant readings based on the Vitti There are no identical readings of different versions in the special manuscript of the vrti and the printed vṛtti. We have taken the manuscript vrti as authoritative. Rayapaseniyam The text of this sütra has been determined on the basis of manuscripts and the Vrtl. Jiväjiväbhigama and Aupapätika-sutras have also been used for determining the texts of the Süryabha and the Drdhapratifña chapters respectively. The commentator has mentioned the abundance of variant readings in different versions at every step. At the time of composing the commentary it posed a serious problem, but in later times it assumed still more serious dimensions. Even then we have revised the text by analysing the available material very minutely. None can claim that the revision of this text is totally flawless but this much can be asserted that we have maintained utmost neutrality and patience in our attempt to perform the task. The construction of the text of this sutra has exacted vast labour, and resulted in the enlargement of the body of the sutra, as also in the intelligibility of the text and the tastefulness of the subject-matter.
