________________ Forward The Classification of the Agamas The most ancient part of the Jain literature is the Āgama. The Samawāyānga mentions two forms of the Āgama, such as, 1. Dwadasanga ganipitaka’ and 2. Caturadaśapūrwa?, In the Nandi, two divisions of the Śruta-Jyana (Agama) have been given. 1. Anga Pravişta and Angavāhya lhe accounts, found regarding the Adhyayanas of the Sadhus and Sadhwis (monks and nuns), pertain to the Angas and purwas, as 1. The readers of the eleven Angas beginning from the Sāmayika Sāmáiyamāiyāin ekkarasa-angāin ahijajai (Antagaça, Prathama Varga). This statement is found regarding Gautama, the disciple of lord Ariştanemi. Sāmāiyamáiyain ekkarasa angāin Ahijajai (Antāgada, Panćam Varga, Prathama Adhyayana). This statement relates to Padmavati, the disciple of lord Aristānemi. Sāmāiyamãiyāin ckkarasa-angăin (Antagada, Astama Varga, Prathama Adhyayana). This statement pertains to Kāli, the disciple of lord Mahavira. Sāmāiyamāiyain ekkarasa-angāin Ahijajai (Antagada Sasta Varga, 15th Adhyayana). This statement has been given regarding Atimuktakumara, the disciple of lord Mahavira, 2. The readers of the twelve Aogas The statement regarding Jālīkumāra, the disciple of lord Ariştanemi, is given as such Bārasangi (Antagada, Caturtha Varga, Prathama Adhyayana). 1.
