It is strange that one and the same editor gave two different accounts in the Samawäyänga and the Nandi) of one and the same Āgama.
There were two main Vācanās, the Māthuri and the Vallabhi. There were many other secondary Vācapās also. This is why there are many different readings. These different readings, probabily occured on adding the explanation or appendix portions. This can well be inferred that the later part of the Dwādasāngi in the Samawayānga is its appendix. The account of the appendix was added to the account of the Samawāyānga with the result that its table of contents swelled more than the table of the Samawāyānga found in the Nandi. There is a summary of eleven stenzas of the "Prajñāpna' in the appendix. It is a matter of investigation why they were added here?
Accomplishment of the work
In the accomplishment of this task, there has been the contribution of many a Muni. I bless them that their devotedness to the performance be ever more developed.
For the editing of this Agama major amount of credit goes to my learned disciple Muni Shri Nath Mali. Day in and day out he has devoted himself to this arduous task. It is because of his concentrated efforts that the work has got such a nice accomplishment. Otherwise, it would not have been an easy job. On account of his in-born Yogic temperament he was capable of attaining that concentration of mind which was essential for achieving the end. On account of his constant devotion to the work of research in the field of Āgamic literature bis intellect has achieved sufficient sharpness in finding out immediately the hidden meaning and mysteries of Āgamic expositions. His keen sense of obedience, perseverance and absolute dedication have contributed much in developing his personality. The above qualities are seen in him since his early age. Right from the time when he joined the Sangha I have been an observor of these qualitics of his, which have so developed. His capacity to undertake to a big task has given me ever increasing satisfaction.
