The present volume consists of three āgamas-Ovõiyam, Rāyapaseniyam and Jivājivābhigame. OVĀIYAM
The text of Aupapātika sutra has been constituted on the basis of the manuscripts and the vstti. The references to different ancient versions in this sūtra are in abundance. It is a repository of descriptions. That is why we find at various places the instruction-jahå ovavāle (as in Ovavaia), referring to similar describers of the other agamas Neither the commentaries of those agamas nor their authentic texts of the latter contain the describers accepted in the Aupapātika. Those describers, however, are available in other versions. It poses a problem for those who study the describers.
The text of this Agama must be determined not only on the basis of adarśas and vrtti but also on the basis of the describers available in the agamic commentaries and the texts of the other agamas. But it is difficult to do so without the compilation of the totality of describers.
Some of the describers are as follows: Bhagavai :
7/175 : evam jahā ovavāie jāva 7/176 : evam jahā uvavāje, evaṁ jahā uvavāie 7/196 : jahā kūņio jāva pāyacchitte 9/157 : "jahā ovavāje jāva egābhimuhe" "evam jahā ovavāie jāva tivihãe” 9/158 : "jahā ovavāie jāva satthavāha" "jahā ovavāie jāva khattiya
kuņdaggāme" 9/162 : ovavāie parisā vannao tahā bhāņiyavvam 9/204 : "jahā ovayāje jāva gaganatalamaņulihanti" "evam jaha ovavāje
taheva bhāņiyavvam" 9/204 : jahā ovavāie jāva mahāpurisa 9/208 · jahā ovavāie jāva abhinandată 9/209 : evam jahā ovavāie kūņio jāva piggacchai 11/59 : jahā ovavāie 11/61 : jahā ovavāie kūņiyassa 11/85: jahā ovavăje jāva gahanayãe
