A comparative study of both the tables of contents makes it clear that the table of contents given in the Nandi is a brief one, and that of the 'Samawa-o' large. The volume of the Sūtra, too, becomes short and long according to the tables of contents.
That the 'ekottarika Vriddhi' (Increasing one by one) takes place upto hundred is mentioned in both the accounts. In either of them, there is no mention of the 'Anekottarika Vriddhi'. The Anekottarika Vriddhi has not at all been mentioned in the Nandi Čūrni, Haribhadrīyā Vritti and the Malaya Giriyavritti, all the three Abhayadeva Sūri has discuss the Anekottarikā Vșiddhi in his Vțitti of Samawāyānga. According to him, the Ekottarika Vșiddhi takes place upto hundred and beyond that the Anekottarikā Vșiddhi.2
It appears that the Vșittikāra has discussed it not on the account given in the 'Samawāyānga' but on the text then available to him.
On reviewing both the accounts, two questions arise
1. Is not the present Samawāyānga different from the account of the Samawāyānga given in the Nandi ?
2. Is the present Samawāyanga is of the Vaćna by Devardhigani ? Jf so, why then such a variation in both the accounts of the 'Sama wāyānga'?
In reply to the first question, it can be said that 'Dwādasānngi' is the final content of the Samawāyānga-Sutra according to the account, relating to the Samawāyānga, given in the Nandi. Many a content has been expounded beyond the 'Dwadaśängi' in the present Samawāyānga. It is therefore, established that the present volume of the 'Samawāyanga' is different from that of the account of the Samawāyānga given in the Nandi.
