The Classification of the Agamas
The most ancient part of the Jain literature is the Āgama. The Samawāyānga mentions two forms of the Āgama, such as, 1. Dwadasanga gaņipitakaļ and 2. Caturadaśapūrwa?, In the Nandi, two divisions of the Śruta-Jyāña (Agama) have been given. 1. Anga Pravişta and Angavāhya. 1. The readers of the eleven Angas beginning from the Sāmayika
Sāmāiyamāiyāin ekkarasa-angāin ahijajai (Antagada, Prathama Varga). This statement is found regarding Gautama, the disciple of lord Aristanemi.
Sāmāiyamāiyain ekkarasa angāin Ahijajai (Antāgada, Panćam Varga, Prathama Adhyayana). This statement relates to Padmavati, the disciple of lord Ariştānemi.
Sāmāiyamāyāin ckkarasa-angāin (Antagada, Aştama Varga, Prathama Adhyayana). This statement pertains to Kāli, the disciple of lord Mahavira.
Sāmāiyamāiyāin ekkarasa-angāin Ahijajai (Antagada Sașța Varga, 15th Adhyayana). This statement has been given regarding Atimuktakumara, the disciple of lord Mahavira,
2. The readers of the twelve Angas
The statement regarding Jālīkumāra, the disciple of lord Ariştanemi, is given as such Bārasangi (Antagada, Caturtha Varga, Prathama Adhyayana).
