चौथा उद्देशक] [341 नो से कप्पइ तत्थ विहारवत्तियं वत्थए / कप्पइ से तत्थ कारणवत्तियं बत्थए / तंसि च णं कारणंसि निट्ठियंसि परो वएज्जा--"वसाहि अज्जो ! एगरायं वा, दुरायं वा", एवं से कप्पइ एगरायं वा दुरायं वा वत्थए / नो से कप्पइ परं एगरायानो वा दुरायानो वा वत्थए / जे तत्थ एगरायाओ वा दुरायाओ वा परं वसइ से संतरा छेए वा परिहारे वा। 12. वासावासं पज्जोसविओ भिक्खू जं पुरओ कट्ट विहरइ से य आहच्च वीसुभेज्जा, अस्थि य इत्य अण्णे केइ अवसंपज्जणारिहे से उवसंपज्जियन्वे / नस्थि य इत्थ अण्णे केइ उवसंपज्जणारिहे तस्स य अप्पणो कप्पाए असमत्ते कप्पइ से एगराइयाए पडिमाए जणं-जण्णं दिसं अण्णे साहम्मिया विहरंति तण्णं-तणं दिसं उवलितए / नो से कप्पइ तत्थ विहारवत्तियं वत्थए। कप्पइ से तत्थ कारणवत्तियं वत्थए। तंसि च णं कारणंसि नियंसि परो वएज्जा-“वसाहि प्रज्जो ! एगरायं वा, दुरायं वा" एवं से कप्पइ एगरायं वा दुरायं वा वत्थए, नो से कप्पइ परं एगरायाओ वा दुरायानो वा वस्थए। जे तत्थ एगरायानो वा दुरायानो वा परं वसइ, से संतरा छेए वा परिहारे वा / 11. ग्रामानुग्राम विहार करता हुमा भिक्षु, जिनको अग्रणी मानकर विहार कर रहा हो और वह यदि कालधर्म-प्राप्त हो जाय तो शेष भिक्षुत्रों में जो भिक्षु योग्य हो, उसे अग्रणी बनाना चाहिए। यदि अन्य कोई भिक्षु अग्रणी होने योग्य न हो और स्वयं (रत्नाधिक) ने भी आचारप्रकल्प का अध्ययन पूर्ण न किया हो तो उसे मार्ग में विश्राम के लिए एक रात्रि ठहरते हुए जिस दिशा में अन्य स्वधर्मी विचरते हों, उस दिशा में जाना कल्पता है। मार्ग में उसे विचरने के लक्ष्य से ठहरना नहीं कल्पता है / यदि रोगादि का कारण हो तो अधिक ठहरना कल्पता है / रोगादि के समाप्त होने पर यदि कोई कहे कि- "हे आर्य ! एक या दो रात और ठहरो" तो उसे एक या दो रात ठहरना कल्पता है, किन्तु एक या दो रात से अधिक ठहरना नहीं कल्पता है। जो भिक्षु वहां (कारण समाप्त होने के बाद) एक या दो रात से अधिक ठहरता है, वह मर्यादा उल्लंघन के कारण दीक्षाछेद या तप रूप प्रायश्चित्त का पात्र होता है। 12. वर्षावास में रहा हुआ भिक्षु, जिनको अग्रणी मानकर रह रहा हो और वह यदि कालधर्म-प्राप्त हो जाय तो शेष भिक्षुषों में जो भिक्षु योग्य हो उसे अग्रणी बनाना चाहिये। यदि अन्य कोई भिक्षु अग्रणी होने योग्य न हो और स्वयं (रत्नाधिक) ने भी निशीथ आदि का अध्ययन पूर्ण न किया हो तो उसे मार्ग में विश्राम के लिए एक-एक रात्रि ठहरते हुए जिस दिशा में अन्य स्वधर्मी हों उस दिशा में जाना कल्पता है।
