अनध्यायकाल] ३-४.-गजित-विद्युत्-गर्जन और विद्युत प्रायः ऋतु स्वभाव से ही होता है / अतः आर्द्रा से स्वाति नक्षत्र पर्यन्त अनध्याय नहीं माना जाता। ____5. निर्धात-बिना बादल के आकाश में व्यन्तरादिकृत घोर गर्जन होने पर या बादलों सहित प्राकाश में कड़कने पर दो प्रहर तक अस्वाध्यायकाल है / 6. यूपक--शुक्ल पक्ष में प्रतिपदा, द्वितीया, तृतीया को सन्ध्या की प्रभा और चन्द्रप्रभा के मिलने को यूपक कहा जाता है / इन दिनों प्रहर रात्रि पर्यन्त स्वाध्याय नहीं करना चाहिए। 7. यक्षादीप्त-कभी किसी दिशा में बिजली चमकने जैसा, थोड़े थोड़े समय पीछे जो प्रकाश होता है वह यक्षादीप्त कहलाता है। अतः अाकाश में जब तक यक्षाकार दीखत तब तक स्वाध्याय नहीं करना चाहिए। 8. धूमिका कृष्ण-कार्तिक से लेकर माघ तक का समय मेघों का गर्भमास होता है / इसमें धूम्र वर्ण की सूक्ष्म जलरूप धुध पड़ती है / वह धूमिका-कृष्ण कहलाती है। जब तक यह धुध पड़ती रहे, तब तक स्वाध्याय नहीं करना चाहिए। 9. मिहिकाश्वेत-शीतकाल में श्वेत वर्ण की सूक्ष्म जलरूप धुन्ध मिहिका कहलाती है। जब तक यह गिरती रहे, तब तक अस्वाध्याय काल है। 10. रज उद्घात–वायु के कारण आकाश में चारों ओर धूलि छा जाती है। जब तक यह धूलि फैली रहती है , स्वाध्याय नहीं करना चाहिए / उपरोक्त दस कारण आकाश सम्बन्धी अस्वाध्याय के हैं। औदारिक सम्बन्धी दस अनध्याय 11-12-13. हड्डी मांस और रुधिर-पंचेद्रिय तिर्यंच की हड्डी, मांस और रुधिर यदि सामने दिखाई दें, तो जब तक वहाँ से यह वस्तुएं उठाई न जाएँ जब तक अस्वाध्याय है / वृत्तिकार आस पास के 60 हाथ तक इन वस्तुओं के होने पर अस्वाध्याय मानते हैं। इसी प्रकार मनुष्य सम्बन्धी अस्थि मांस और रुधिर का भी अनध्याय माना जाता है / विशेषता इतनी है कि इनका अस्वाध्याय सो हाथ तक तथा एक दिन रात का होता है। स्त्री के मासिक धर्म का प्रस्वाध्याय तीन दिन तक / बालक एवं बालिका के जन्म का अस्वाध्याय क्रमश: सात एवं पाठ दिन पर्यन्त का माना जाता है / 14. अशुचि-मल-मूत्र सामने दिखाई देने तक अस्वाध्याय है। 15. श्मशान-श्मशानभूमि के चारों ओर सौ-सौ हाथ पर्यन्त अस्वाध्याय माना जाता है / 16. चन्द्रग्रहण-चन्द्रग्रहण होने पर जघन्य आठ, मध्यम बारह और उत्कृष्ट सोलह प्रहर पर्यन्त स्वाध्याय नहीं करना चाहिए। 17. सूर्यग्रहण-सूर्यग्रहण होने पर भी क्रमशः पाठ, बारह और सोलह प्रहर पर्यन्त अस्वाध्यायकाल माना गया है।
