प्रकाशित वृत्तिसहित जीवाभिगम सूत्र का मूल पाठ है परन्तु अनेक स्थलों पर उस संस्करण में प्रकाशित मूलपाठ में वृत्तिकार द्वारा मान्य पाठ में अन्तर भी है। कई स्थलों में पाये जाने वाले इस भेद से ऐसा लगता है कि वृत्तिकार के सामने कोई अन्य प्रति (आदर्श) रही हो। अतएव अनेक स्थलों पर हमने वृत्तिकार-सम्मत पाठ अधिक संगत लगने से उसे मुलपाठ में स्थान दिया है। ऐसे पाठान्तरों का उल्लेख स्थान-स्थान पर फुटनोट (टिप्पण) में किया गया है। स्वयं वृत्तिकार ने इस बात का उल्लेख किया है कि इस पागम के सत्रपाठों में कई स्थानों पर भिन्नता दृष्टिगोचर होती है। यह स्मरण रखने योग्य है कि यह भिन्नता शब्दों को लेकर है। तात्पर्य में कोई अन्तर नहीं है / तात्त्विक अन्तर न होकर वर्णनात्मक स्थलों से शब्दों का और उनके क्रम का अन्तर दृष्टिमोचर होता है / ऐसे स्थलों पर हमने टीकाकारसम्मत पाठ को मूल में स्थान दिया है। प्रस्तुत प्रागम के अनुवाद और विवेचन में भी मुख्य आधार प्राचार्य श्री मलयगिरि की वृत्ति ही रही है। हमने अधिक से अधिप यह प्रयास किया है कि इस तात्त्विक आगम की सैद्धान्तिक विषय-वस्तु को अधिक से अधिक स्पष्ट रूप में जिज्ञासुमों के समक्ष प्रस्तुत किया जाय / अतएब वृत्ति में स्पष्ट की गई प्रायः सभी मुख्य मुख्य बातें हमने विवेचन में दे दी हैं ताकि संस्कृत भाषा को न समझने वाले जिज्ञासुजन भी उनसे लाभान्वित हो सकें। मैं समझता हूं कि मेरे इस प्रयास से हिन्दी भाषी जिज्ञासुमों को वे सब तात्विक बातें समझने को मिल सकेंगी जो वत्ति में संस्कृत भाषा में समझाई गई हैं। इस दष्टि से इस संस्करण की उपयोगिता बहत बढ़ जाती हैं। जिज्ञासु जन यदि इससे लाभान्वित होंगे तो मैं अपने प्रयास को सार्थक समझंगा। अन्त में, मैं स्वयं को धन्य मानता हूं कि मुझे इस संस्करण को तैयार करने का सु-अवसर मिला / प्रागमप्रकाशन समिति, ब्यावर की ओर से मुझे प्रस्तुत जीवाभिगम सूत्र का सम्पादन करने का दायित्व सौंपा गया। सूत्र की गंभीरता को देखते हुए मुझे अपनी योग्यता के विषय में संकोच अवश्य पैदा हुआ परन्तु श्रुतभक्ति से प्रेरित होकर मैंने यह दायित्व स्वीकार कर लिया और उसके निष्पादन में निष्ठा के साय जुट गया। जैसा भी मुझ से बन पड़ा, वह इस रूप में पाठकों के सन्मुख प्रस्तुत है। कृतज्ञता-ज्ञापन--- श्रुत-सेवा के मेरे इस प्रयास में श्रद्धेय गुरुवर्य उपाध्याय श्री पुष्करमुनिजी म. एवं श्रमणसंघ के उपाचार्य साहित्य-मनीषी सुप्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार श्री देवेन्द्र मुनिजी म. का कुशल मार्गदर्शन एवं दिशानिर्देशन प्राप्त हुप्रा है जिसके फलस्वरूप मैं यह भगीरथ-कार्य सम्पन्न करने में सफल हो सका हूं। इन पूज्य गुरुवयों का जितना प्राभार मान उतना कम ही है। श्रद्धेय उपाचार्य श्री ने तो इस पागम की विद्वत्तापूर्ण प्रस्तावना लिखने की महती अनुकम्पा की है। इससे इस संस्करण की उपयोगिता में चार चांद लग गये हैं। प्रस्तुत पागम का सम्पादन करते समय मुके जैन समाज के विश्रुत विद्वान पं. श्री बसन्तीलालजी नलवाया रतलाम का महत्त्वपूर्ण सहयोग मिला। उनके विद्वत्तापूर्ण एवं श्रमनिष्ठ सहयोग के लिए कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करना मैं नहीं भूल सकता। सेठ देवनन्द लालभाई पृस्त कोद्धार फण्ड, 'सूरत का मुख्य रूप से प्राभारी हूं। जिसके द्वारा प्रकाशित संस्करण का उपयोग इसमें किया गया है। पागम प्रकाशन समिति ब्यावर एवं अन्य सब प्रत्यक्ष-अप्रत्यक्ष सहयोगियों का कृतज्ञतापूर्वक आभार व्यक्त करता हूं।
