श्री जिनागम-ग्रन्थमाला के २४ वें ग्रन्थ आवश्यकसूत्र का यह तृतीय संस्करण पाठकों के समक्ष प्रस्तुत किया जा रहा है। आवश्यकसूत्र धर्म-क्रिया से सम्बद्ध है और प्रत्येक मुमुक्षु साधक के लिए सदैव उपयोगी एवं आवश्यक है। इस सूत्र का सम्पादन एवं अनुवाद अध्यात्मयोगिनी परमविदुषी महासतीजी श्री उमरावकुंवरजी म० 'अर्चना' की पण्डिता शिष्या डॉ. श्री सुप्रभाजी म० 'सुधा' सिद्धान्ताचार्य, साहित्यरत्न, एम० ए०, पीएच०डी० ने परिश्रमपूर्वक किया है। अतएव हम महासतीजी के इस महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान के लिए आभारी हैं।
___महासतीजी ने इस ग्रन्थ को सर्वसाधारण के लिए उपयोगी बनाने का पूर्ण रूप से प्रयास किया है। विशिष्ट शब्दों का अर्थ और भावार्थ देकर अनुवाद को अलंकृत किया है।
साहित्यवाचस्पति विद्वद्वर मुनि श्री देवेन्द्रमुनिजी म. शास्त्री ने प्रस्तुत सूत्र की विशद प्रस्तावना लिख कर इसे अधिक उपयोगी बना दिया है। प्रस्तावना में आपने विस्तार के साथ आवश्यकों के स्वरूप पर प्रकाश डाला है और विभिन्न धर्मों सम्बन्धी आवश्यक क्रिया की तुलना भी प्रस्तुत की है।
श्री आगम प्रकाशन समिति के माध्यम से आगम ग्रन्थों का प्रकाशन प्रारम्भ किया गया था। सभी ग्रन्थों के द्वितीय संस्करण प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं। किन्तु जैसे-जैसे ग्रन्थों का प्रकाशन होता गया, वैसे-वैसे पाठकों की संख्या में अनुमान से भी अधिक वृद्धि हुई है अतः द्वितीय संस्करण के ग्रन्थों के अनुपलब्ध होते जाने पर भी आगम बत्तीसी के समस्त ग्रन्थों की मांग बढ़ती गई। इसकी पूर्ति के लिए अध्यात्मयोगिनी मालवज्योति साध्वी श्री उमरावकुंवरजी म० 'अर्चना' के निर्देशन में तृतीय संस्करण प्रकाशित करने का निर्णय किया गया।
निर्णय के अनुसार अप्राप्य होते जा रहे ग्रन्थों को प्रकाशित करने का कार्य चालू है। इसी क्रम में 'आवश्यकसूत्र' का यह तृतीय संस्करण प्रकाशित किया जा रहा है। ___आगमप्रेमी सज्जन इन आगमों के प्रचार-प्रसार में सहयोग दें, इसी निवेदन के साथ समिति की ओर से हम अपने सभी सहयोगियों का हार्दिक आभार मानते हैं।
