Some others say -
7. The sun rises in the east, then traverses this world horizontally, then sets in the west, then enters (the earth), then descends, then again rises in the east. Some say this. Some others say -
8. The sun rises far away in the east, many yojanas, many yojana-hundreds, many yojana-thousands high, then traverses this southern hemisphere horizontally, then sets in the northern hemisphere, then traverses this northern hemisphere horizontally, then sets in the southern hemisphere, then traverses these southern and northern hemispheres horizontally, then rises far away in the east, many yojanas, many yojana-hundreds, many yojana-thousands high. Some say this.
We, however, say this:
The two suns rise in the sky, eight yojana-hundreds high, in the regions of the earth, which are very worthy of being remembered, in the four-part mandala, which is the southern, eastern, northern, and western part of the Jambudvipa island, which is the living mandala of the four directions, the north, south, east, and west.
Then they traverse these southern and northern parts of Jambudvipa horizontally, then set in the eastern and western parts of Jambudvipa.
Then they traverse these eastern and western parts of Jambudvipa horizontally, then set in the southern and northern parts of Jambudvipa.
They traverse these southern and northern, eastern and western parts of Jambudvipa horizontally, then rise in the sky in the regions of the earth, which are very worthy of being remembered, in the four-part mandala, which is the southern, eastern, northern, and western part of the Jambudvipa island, which is the living mandala of the four directions, the north, south, east, and west.
