They follow a distorted path by interpreting it according to their own understanding. People with evil intentions, who spread corruption in society by arbitrarily interpreting the true facts and processes of the traditional method of statement of the ancient sages, or who seek to defame, do this.
The actual meaning of the words "meat, fish, etc." used in Jain literature is definitely not the meaning prevalent in modern usage. This fact has been explained in great detail in the second chapter of the "Manav-Bhojy-Mimamsa" text by Pannyas Shri Kalyanvijayji Gani. The ignorant class spreads such ill-will because they do not have the discernment between the known and the unknown. The talk of "Nakshatra-Bhojan" in Surya-Prajnapti is related to the food of substances that appease the stars to free them from their defects. In astrology, such remedies are often shown for the removal of weekday defects, date defects, planetary defects, omen defects, bad luck, etc. These are also given here briefly as an example. This assumption is certainly acceptable.
The "Muhurta-Chintamani" also mentions food items to get rid of the defects of such stars. The word "meat" is also used in them. But its famous commentator Govind Jyotirvit has clearly written in his "Piyushdhara" commentary that - "Nakshatradohadam Kulmashaanityadikamidam Bhakshyabhakshyam Varnabhedena Deshabhedena Va Bhakshyametadabhakshyamiti Vicharya Bhakshyasambhave Bhakshayate Abhakshyasambhave Alekayet Pashyet Sprused Vettyapi Dhyeyam." (p. 390, Nirnayasagar Bombay Publication). Its summary is this - "In the observance of Nakshatradohad, consider what is edible and inedible based on caste differences and regional differences, and do what is appropriate. If it is not edible, then look at it or touch it." - There is also an indication of the statement of Nakshatra-Dohad by Narada in some text and by Vasishtha, Kashyap, Shripati and Bhatta Utpal. In support of his statement, the commentator, quoting the words of the "Guru", has stated that - "Atra Yadabhakshyam Dushpraapam Va Tat Samatva Drishtava Datva Gantvyamityah Guru." This clearly shows that these Dohad-Bhojy were indicated keeping in mind the common people and they gave priority to discernment.
Acharya Shrimali Giri, in his explanation of this incident, has simply said, "In Krittika, the work started is accomplished without any obstacles, for this purpose, food of rice mixed with curd is eaten," and said, "See the rest of the sutras."
Acharya Shri Ghasilalji Maharaj, in his commentary Prameh-Bodhini (in the seventeenth Prabhut-Prabhut of the tenth Prabhut), has stated, "Namaikadeshagrahanena Namagrahanam Bhavattiti Niyamati", and has stated that "The essence of Dhatura or its powder is to be taken from Vrishabhamas." and has explained the meaning of Mrigamans as Indravaruni plant, Deepakamans - Ajwain powder, Mandukamans - Mandukaparni powder, Nakhimas - Vaghnakhi powder, Varahamas - Varahikanth powder, Jalcharamans - Jalchar Kumbhika powder, Tintinikamans - Tamarind powder.
Acharya Shri Amolkarishiji has also expressed similar meanings in his commentary, a table of which is as follows -
