[ Surya Prajnapti Sutra ]
3. The Sayabhisha Nakshatra, in the Avaddha Kshetra (half field) of the Nakshatra Mandala, for fifteen Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the evening. It does not reach the next day.
Thus, the Sayabhisha Nakshatra, for one Rati, joins with the Moon in the evening. It joins, then it continues to join, then it continues to join, and then in the evening, it completes the joining with the Moon for the Purva-Pottva (first quarter).
4. The Purva-Pottva Nakshatra, in the Purva Bhaga (first part) of the Sama Kshetra (whole field), for thirty Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the morning. Then, it reaches the next Rati.
Thus, the Purva-Pottva Nakshatra, for one day and one Rati, joins with the Moon in the evening. It joins, then it continues to join, then it continues to join, and then in the morning, it completes the joining with the Moon for the Uttara-Pottva (second quarter).
The Uttara-Pottva Nakshatra, in both parts of the Divaddha Kshetra (double field), for forty-five Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the morning. It reaches the next Rati, and then it reaches the next day.
Thus, the Uttara-Pottva Nakshatra, for two days and one Rati, joins with the Moon in the evening. Then it continues to join, and then in the evening, it completes the joining with the Moon for the Revati.
The Revati Nakshatra, in the Pacchamma Bhaga (last part) of the Sama Kshetra (whole field), for thirty Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the evening. Then, it reaches the next day.
Thus, the Revati Nakshatra, for one Rati and one day, joins with the Moon in the evening. It joins, then it continues to join, then it continues to join, and then in the evening, it completes the joining with the Moon for the Ashvini.
7. The Ashvini Nakshatra, in the Pacchamma Bhaga (last part) of the Sama Kshetra (whole field), for thirty Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the evening. Then, it reaches the next day.
1. 'Apara-Kshetram Panchadasha Muhurtam' - If the joining of any Nakshatra with the Moon lasts for fifteen Muhurtas, it is called 'Apara-Kshetra-Yoga' or 'Half Field Yoga'.
2. 'Iha Purva-Prosthapada-Nakshatra-sya Pratha-chandrena saha Prathamataya Yoga-pravritti Itidam Purva-Bhagamucyate' - This is the Purva-Bhaga (first part) where the Purva-Prosthapada Nakshatra joins with the Moon in the morning for the first time.
3. 'Idam Kilottara-Bhadrapada-akhyam Nakshatramukta-prakarena Pratha-chandrena saha-yogam adhigachchati. Kevalam Prathaman Panchadasha-muhurtan adhikan-apaniya sama-kshetram kalpayitva yada yogaschintyate tada naktamapi yogas-tityubhaya-bhagmavaseyam' - This is the Uttara-Bhadrapada Nakshatra, which joins with the Moon in the morning in the same way as mentioned before. When the joining is considered, keeping in mind only the first fifteen Muhurtas, and not exceeding them, then the joining is also in the night. Thus, both parts should be understood.
4. 'Uttara-Prakoṣṭha-pada-nakshatram khalu bhayabhagavyartha-kshetram pancha-chatvarimśan-muhūrta, tat-prathamataya-yoga-prathamataya pratha-chandrena sardha yogam yunakti, taccha, tatha yuktam sat tam sakalam api divasam aparam cha ratrim tatas-pashchad aparam divasam yavad-vartate' - The Uttara-Prakoṣṭha-pada Nakshatra, in both parts of the half field, for forty-five Muhurtas, joins with the Moon in the morning for the first time. This joining, thus joined, lasts for the whole day, then for the night, and then for the next day, as long as it continues.
