Where it is day for twelve muhurtas in the north, it is night for twelve muhurtas in the south.
Where it is day for fifteen muhurtas on the eastern side of Mount Mandara in Jambudvipa, it is night for fifteen muhurtas on the western side. Some say that the night is then in the south. But we say:
The sun in Jambudvipa rises in the east, moves towards the south, moves towards the west, moves towards the north, and moves towards the east again.
(a) Where it is day on the southern side of Mount Mandara in Jambudvipa, it is also day on the northern side.
Where it is day on the northern side, it is night on the eastern and western sides of Mount Mandara in Jambudvipa.
(b) Where it is day on the eastern side of Mount Mandara in Jambudvipa, it is also day on the western side.
Where it is day on the western side, it is night on the north and south sides of Mount Mandara in Jambudvipa.
