[51]
Just as the sun's rays fall upon the mountains, so they also fall upon the Mandara mountain, and even upon the mountain king. [a] Those beings who are illuminated by the sun's rays are also those who are touched by the sun's rays. [b] Even the unseen beings are touched by the sun's rays. Those beings who are in the last stage of liberation are also touched by the sun's rays.
1. Sixteen names of the Mandara mountain are mentioned in the scriptures, as follows:
1. Mandara 2. Meru 3. Manorama 4. Sudarsana 5. Sayamprabha 6. Giriraja 7. Rayanuccaya 8. Piyadarsana 9-19. In the middle of the world, the navel [1] 11. Acchaya 12. Suryavatte 13. Suryavaranetti 14. Uttama 15. Disadi 16. Vadensei, sixteen in total [2]

These two verses list sixteen names of the Mandara mountain. In addition to these, there are four other metaphorical names.
These twenty synonyms of the Mandara mountain are considered by different schools of thought to be different mountains. However, the compiler of the Surya Prajnapti, in accordance with the Samavayanga and Jambudvipa Prajnapti, has reconciled all other beliefs by considering these twenty synonyms to be names of the Mandara mountain.
