As a result, he could see and know the salt sea, one thousand yojanas in each direction, east, west, south, and north, up to the Chullahimavanta Vasahara mountain. He could see and know the earth, which is red due to the radiance of the gems, and the hell, which is eighty-four thousand yojanas in extent. ________________ १९४] [उपासकदशांगसूत्र महाशतक की उत्तरोत्तर बढ़ती साधना २५०. तए णं से महासयए समणोवासए पढमं उवासग-पडिमं उवसंपजित्ता णं विहरइ पढमं अहासुत्तं जाव एक्कारसवि। श्रमणोपासक महाशतक ने पहली उपासकप्रतिमा स्वीकार की। यों पहली से लेकर क्रमशः ग्याहरवीं तक सभी प्रतिमाओं की शास्त्रोक्त विधि से आराधना की। २५१. तए णं से महासयए समणोवासए तेणं उरालेणं जाव' किसे धमणिसंतए जाए। उग्र तपश्चरण से श्रमणोपासक महाशतक के शरीर में इतनी कृशता--क्षीणता आ गई कि उस पर उभरी हुई नाड़ियां दीखने लगी। आमरण अनशन २५२. तए णं से महासययस्य समणोवासयस्य अन्नया कयाइ पुव्वरत्तावरत्त-काले धम्म-जागरियं जागरमाणस्स अयं अज्झथिए ४ -एवं खलु अहं इमेणं उरालेणं जहा आणंदो तहे व अपच्छिम-मारणंतियसंलेहणाए झूसिय-सरीरे भत्त-पाण-पडियाइक्खिए कालं अणवकंखमाणे विहरइ। एक दिन अर्द्ध रात्रि के समय धर्म-जागरण-धर्म स्मरण करते हुए आनन्द की तरह श्रमणोपासक महाशतक के मन में विचार उत्पन्न हुआ-उग्र तपश्चरण द्वारा मेरा शरीर अत्यन्त कृश हो गया है, आदि। आनन्द की तरह चिन्तन करते हुए उसने अन्तिम मारणान्तिक संलेखना स्वीकार की, खान-पान का परित्याग किया-अनशन स्वीकार किया, मृत्यु की कामना न करता हुआ, वह आराधना में लीन हो गया। अवधिज्ञान का प्रादुर्भाव २५३. तए णं तस्स महासयगस्स समणोवासगस्स सुभेणं अज्झवसाणेणं जाव (सुभेणं परिणामेणं, लेसाहिं विसुज्झमाणीहिं तदावरणिज्जाणं कम्माणं) खओवसमेणं ओहि-णाणे समुप्पन्ने-पुरत्थिसेणं लवणसमुद्दे जोयण-साहस्सियं खेत्तं जाणइ पासइ, एवं दक्खिणेणं, पच्चत्थिमेणं, उत्तरेणं जाव चुल्लहिमवंतं वासहरपव्वयं जाणइ पासइ, अहे इमीसे रयणप्पभाए पुढवीए लालुयच्चुयं नरयं चउरासीइ-वाससहस्सट्ठिइयं जाणइ पासइ। तत्पश्चात् श्रमणोपासक महाशतक को शुभ अध्यवसाय, (शुभ परिणाम-अन्तःपरिणति, विशुद्ध होती हुई लेश्याओं के कारण) अवधिज्ञानावरण कर्म के क्षयोपशम से अवधिज्ञान उत्पन्न हो गया। फलतः वह पूर्व, पश्चिम तथा दक्षिण दिशा में एक-एक हजार योजन तक का लवण समुद्र का क्षेत्र, १. देखें सूत्र-संख्या ७३
