सम्पत्ति-युक्त हैं । अतः मेरे लिए यह श्रेयस्कर है कि मैं श्रमण भगवान् महावीर को वन्दन-नमस्कार कर प्रातिहारिक पीठ, फलक (शय्या तथा संस्तारक) हेतु आमंत्रित करूं । यों विचार कर वह उठा, श्रमण भगवान् महावीर को वन्दन-नमस्कार किया और बोला-भगवन् ! पोलासपुर नगर के बाहर मेरी पांच-सौ कुम्हारगीरी की कर्मशालाएं हैं। आप वहां प्रातिहारिक पीठ, (फलक, शय्या) संस्तारक ग्रहण कर विराजें। भगवान् का कुंभकारापण में पदार्पण
१९४. तए णं समणे भगवं महावीरे सद्दालपुत्तस्स आजीविओवासगस्स एयमलैं पडिसुणेइ, पडिसुणेत्ता सद्दालपुत्तस्स आजीविओवासगस्स पंचकुंभकारावणसएस फासुएसणिजं पाडिहारियं पीढफलग जाव (सेज्जा) संथारयं ओगिण्हित्ता णं विहरइ।
भगवान् महावीर ने आजीविकोपासक सकडालपुत्र का यह निवेदन स्वीकार किया तथा उसकी पांच सौ कुम्हारगीरी की कर्मशालाओं में प्रासुक, शुद्ध प्रातिहारिक पीठ, फलक (शय्या), संस्तारक ग्रहण कर भगवान् अवस्थित हुए।
१९५. तए णं से सद्दालपुत्ते आजीविओवासए अन्नया कयाइ वायाहययं कोलालभंडं अंतो सालाहिंतो बहिया नीणेइ, नीणेत्ता, आयवंसि दलयइ।
एक दिन आजीविकोपासक सकडालपुत्र हवा लगे हुए मिट्टी के बर्तन कर्मशाला के भीतर से बाहर लाया और उसने उन्हें धूप में रखा।
१९६. तए णं से समणे भगवं महावीरे सद्दालपुत्तं आजीविओवासयं एवं ववासीसद्दालपुत्ता! एस णं कोलालभंडे कओ?
भगवान् महावीर ने आजीविकोपासक सकडालपुत्र से कहा-सकडालपुत्र! ये मिट्टी के बर्तन कैसे बने?
१९७. तए णं से सद्दालुपुत्ते आजीविओवासए समणं भगवं महावीरं एवं वयासीएस णं भंते! पुव्वि मट्टिया आसी, तओ पच्छा उदएणं निमिजइ, निमिजिता छारेण य करिसेण य एगयाओ मीसिजइ, मीसिजित्ता चक्के आरोहिज्जइ, तओ बहवे करगा य जाव' उट्टियाओ य कजति।
