कामदेव ९१. जइ णं भंते! समणेणं भगवया महावीरेणं जाव' संपत्तेणं सत्तमस्स अंगस्स उवासगदसाणं पढमस्स अज्झयणस्स अयमढे पण्णत्ते, दोच्चस्स णं भंते! अज्झयणस्स के अट्ठे पण्णत्ते?
आर्य सुधर्मा से जम्बू ने पूछा--यावत् सिद्धि-प्राप्त भगवान् महावीर ने सातवें अंग उपासकदशा के प्रथम अध्ययन का यदि यह अर्थ--आशय प्रतिपादित किया तो भगवन् ! उन्होंने दूसरे अध्ययन का क्या अर्थ बतलाया है? श्रमणोपासक कामदेव
. ९२. एवं खलु जम्बू! तेणं कालेणं तेणं समएणं चंपा नामं नयरी होत्था। पुण्णभद्दे चेइए। जियसत्तु राया। कामदेवे गाहावई। भद्दा भारिया। छ हिरण्ण-कोडीओ निहाणपउत्ताओ, छ वुड्डि-पउत्ताओ, छ पवित्थर-पउत्ताओ, छ वया, दस-गो-साहस्सिएणं वएणं। समोसरणं । जहा आणंदो तहा निग्गओ, तहेव सावय-धम्म पडिवजइ।
__ सा चेव वत्तव्वया जाव' जेट्ठ-पुत्तं, मित्त-नाइं आपुच्छित्ता, जेणेव पोसह-साला तेणेव उवागच्छइ, उवागच्छिता जहा आणंदो जाव (पोसह-सालं पमजइ, पमजित्ता उच्चारपासवण-भूमि पडिलेहेइ, पडिलेहिता दब्भ-संथारयं संथरइ, संथरेत्ता दब्भ-संथारयं दुरूहइ, दुरूहित्ता-पोसह-सालाए पोसहिए दंब्भ-संथारोवगए) समणस्स भगवओ महावीरस्स अंतियं धम्म-पण्णत्तिं उपसंपज्जित्ताणं विहरइ।
__ आर्य सुधर्मा बोले--जम्बू! उस काल-वर्तमान अवसर्पिणी के चौथे आरे के अन्त में, उससमय जब भगवान् महावीर सदेह विद्यमान थे, चम्पा नामक नगरी थी। पूर्णभद्र नामक चैत्य था। वहां के राजा का नाम जितशत्रु था। वहां कामदेव नामक गाथापति था। उसकी पत्नी का नाम भद्रा था। गाथापति कामदेव की छ: करोड़ स्वर्ण मुद्राएं खजाने में रखी थीं, छह करोड़ स्वर्ण-मुद्राएं व्यापार में लगी थीं तथा छह करोड़ स्वर्ण-मुद्राएं घर के वैभव-साधन-सामग्री में लगी थीं। उसके छह गोकुल थे। प्रत्येक गोकुल में दस हजार गायें थीं। १. देखें सूत्र-संख्या २। २. देखें सूत्र-संख्या ६६।
