[१२३ विवेचन-सूर्य जब उत्तरायण होता है, तब उसका उदय तिरेसठ वार निषधपर्वत के ऊपर से होता है और भरत क्षेत्र में दिन होता है। पन: दक्षिणायण होते हए जम्बूद्वीप की वेदिका के ऊपर से उदय
आ है। तत्पश्चात् उसका उदय लवणसमुद्र के ऊपर से होता है। इसी प्रकार परिभ्रमण करते हुए जब वह नीलवन्त पर्वत पर से उदित होता है, तब ऐरवत क्षेत्र में दिन होता है। वहाँ भी तिरेसठ वार नीलवन्त पर्वत के ऊपर से उदय होता है, पुनः जम्बूद्वीप की वेदिका के ऊपर से उदय होता है और अन्त में लवणसमुद्र के ऊपर से उदय होता है। यतः एक सूर्य दो दिन में मेरु की एक प्रदक्षिणा करता है, अतः तिरेसठ वार निषधपर्वत से उदय होकर भरत क्षेत्र को प्रकाशित करता है और इसी प्रकार नीलवन्त पर्वत से तिरेसठ वार उदय होकर ऐरवत क्षेत्र को प्रकाशित करता है।

चतुःषष्टिस्थानक-समवाय ३२४- अट्ठट्ठमिया णं भिक्खुपडिमा चउसट्ठीए राइदिएहिं दोहि य अट्ठासीएहिं भिक्खासएहिं-अहासुत्तं जाव [अहाकप्पं अहामग्गं अहातच्चं सम्मं काएण फासित्ता पालित्ता सोहित्ता तीरित्ता किट्टित्ता आराहइत्ता आणाए अणुपालित्ता] भवइ।
अष्टाष्टमिका भिक्षुप्रतिमा चौसठ रात-दिनों में, दो सौ अठासी भिक्षाओं से सूत्रानुसार, यथा-तथ्य, सम्यक् प्रकार काय से स्पर्श कर, पाल कर, शोधन कर, पार कर, कीर्तन कर, आज्ञा के अनुसार अनुपालन कर आराधित होती है।
विवेचन-जिस अभिग्रह-विशेष की आराधना में आठ आठ दिन के आठ दिनाष्टक लगते हैं, उसे अष्टाष्टमिका भिक्षुप्रतिमा कहते हैं । इसकी आराधना करते हुए प्रथम के आठ दिनों में एक-एक भिक्षा ग्रहण की जाती है। पुनः दूसरे आठ दिनों में दो-दो भिक्षाएं ग्रहण की जाती हैं। इसी प्रकार तीसरे आदि आठ-आठ दिनों में एक-एक भिक्षा बढ़ाते हुए अन्तिम आठ दिनों में प्रतिदिन आठ-आठ भिक्षाएं ग्रहण की जाती हैं। इस प्रकार चौसठ दिनों में सर्व भिक्षाएं दो सौ अठासी (८+१६+२४+३२+४०+४८ +५६+६४=२८८) हो जाती हैं।
३२५-चउसटैि असुरकुमारावाससयसहस्सा पण्णत्ता। चमरस्सणं रन्नो चउसटुिंसामाणियसाहस्सीओ पण्णत्ताओ।
