[समवायानसूत्र णक्खत्तमासे सत्तावीसाहिं राइंदियाहिं राइंदियग्गेणं पण्णत्ते।सोहम्मीसाणेसुकप्पेसु विमाणपुढवी सत्तावीसं जोयणसयाई बाहल्लेणं पण्णत्ता।
जम्बूद्वीप नामक इस द्वीप में अभिजित् नक्षत्र को छोड़कर शेष नक्षत्रों के द्वारा मास आदि का व्यवहार प्रवर्तता है। (अभिजित् नक्षत्र का उत्तराषाढा नक्षत्र के चतुर्थ चरण में प्रवेश हो जाता है।) नक्षत्र मास सत्ताईस दिन-रात की प्रधानता वाला कहा गया है। अर्थात् नक्षत्र मास में २७ दिन होते हैं। सौधर्मईशान कल्पों में उनके विमानों की पृथिवी सत्ताईस सौ (२७००) योजन मोटी कही गई है।
१८०-वेयगसम्मत्तबंधोवरयस्स णं मोहणिजस्स कम्मस्स सत्तावीसं उत्तरपगडीओ संतकम्मंसा पण्णत्ता। सावणसुद्धसत्तमीसु णं सूरिए सत्तावीसंगुलियं पोरिसिच्छायं णिव्वत्तइत्ता णं दिवसखेत्तं नियट्टमाणे रयणिखेत्तं अभिणिवट्टमाणे चारं चरइ।
वेदकसम्यक्त्व के बन्ध रहित जीव के मोहनीय कर्म की सत्ताईस प्रकृतियों की सत्ता कही गई है। श्रावण सुदी सप्तमी के दिन सूर्य सत्ताईस अंगुल की पौरुषी छाया करके दिवस क्षेत्र (सूर्य से प्रकाशित आकाश) की ओर लौटता हुआ और रजनी क्षेत्र (प्रकाश की हानि करता और अन्धकार को बढ़ता हुआ संचार करता है।
१८१-इमीसे णं रयणप्पभाए पुढवीए अत्थेगइयाणं नेरइयाणं सत्तावीसं पलिओवमाइं ठिई पण्णत्ता। अहेसत्तमाए पुढवीए अत्थेगइयाणं नेरइयाणं सत्तावीसं सागरोवमाइं ठिई पण्णत्ता। असुरकुमाराणं देवाणं अत्थेगइयाणं सत्तावीसं पलिओवमाइं ठिई पण्णत्ता।सोहम्मीसाणेसु कप्पेसु अत्थेगइयाणं देवाणं सत्तावीसं पलिओवमाइं ठिई पण्णत्ता।
इस रत्नप्रभा पृथिवी में कितनेक नारकों की स्थिति सत्ताईस पल्योपम की है। अधस्तन सप्तम महातमःप्रभा पृथिवी में कितनेक नारकियों की स्थिति सत्ताईस सागरोपम की है। कितनेक असुरकुमार देवों की स्थिति सत्ताईस पल्योपम की है। सौधर्म-ईशान कल्पों में कितनेक देवों की स्थिति सत्ताईस पल्योपम की है।
