[२३ ब्रह्मचर्य की अगुप्ति कहा गया है। ५३- नव बंभेचरा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा
सत्थपरिण्णा' लोगविजयो२ सीओसणिज्ज३ सम्मत्त ।
आवंति' धुत विमोहा [यणं ] उवहाणसुयं महापरिण्णा ॥१॥ नौ ब्रह्मचर्य अध्ययन कहे गये हैं, जैसे
शस्त्रपरिज्ञा १, लोकविजय २, शीतोष्णीय ३, सम्यक्त्व ४, आवन्ती ५, धूत ६, विमोह ७, उपधानश्रुत ८ और महापरिज्ञा ९।
विवेचन-कुशल या प्रशस्त आचरण करने को भी ब्रह्मचर्य कहते हैं । उसके प्रतिपादक अध्ययन भी ब्रह्मचर्य कहलाते हैं । आचारांग के प्रथम श्रुतस्कन्ध में ऐसे कुशल अनुष्ठानों के प्रतिपादक नौ अध्ययनों का उक्त गाथासूत्र में नामोल्लेख किया गया है। तात्पर्य यह है कि आचारांगसूत्र के प्रथम श्रुतस्कंध में नौ अध्ययन हैं।
५४-पासे णं अरहा पुरिसादाणीए नव रयणीओ उड्ढे उच्चत्तेणं होत्था। पुरुषादानीय पार्श्वनाथ तीर्थंकर देव नौ रत्नि (हाथ) ऊँचे थे।
५५-अभीजीनक्खत्ते साइरेगे नव मुहुत्ते चंदेण सद्धिं जोगं जोएइ। अभीजियाइया नव नक्खत्ता चंदस्स उत्तरेणं जोगं जोएंति, तं जहा-अभीजीसवणो जाव भरणी।
अभिजित् नक्षत्र कुछ अधिक नौ मुहूर्त तक चन्द्रमा के साथ योग करता है। अभिजित् आदि नौ नक्षत्र चन्द्रमा का उत्तर दिशा की ओर से योग करते हैं। वे नौ नक्षत्र अभिजित् से लगाकर भरणी तक जानना चाहिए।
विवेचन-जो नक्षत्र जितने समय तक चन्द्र के साथ रहता है, वह उसका चन्द्र के साथ योग कहलाता है। अभिजित् आदि जो नौ नक्षत्र उत्तर की ओर रहते हुए चन्द्र के साथ योग का अनुभव करते हैं, उनके नाम इस प्रकार हैं – अभिजित्, रेवती, उत्तरभाद्रपदा, श्रवण, धनिष्ठा, शतभिषक्, पूर्वाभाद्रपदा, अश्विनी, भरणी।
५६-इमीसे णं रयणप्पभाए बहुसमरमणिज्जाओ भूमिभागाओ नव जोयणसए उद्धं अबाहाए उवरिल्ले तारारूवे चारं चरइ। जम्बुद्दीवे णं दीवे नवजोयणिया मच्छा पविसिंसु वा पविसंति वा पविसिस्संति वा। विजयस्स णं दारस्स एगमेगाए बाहाए नव नव भोमा पण्णत्ता।
इस रत्नप्रभा पृथिवी के बहुसम रमणीय भूमिभाग से नौ सौ योजन ऊपर अन्तर करके उपरितन भाग में ताराएं संचार करती हैं। जम्बूद्वीप नाामक द्वीप में नौ योजन वाले मत्स्य भूतकाल में नदीमुखों से प्रवेश करते थे, वर्तमान में प्रवेश करते हैं और भविष्य में प्रवेश करेंगे। जम्बूद्वीप के विजय नामक पूर्व द्वार की एक-एक बाहु (भुजा) पर नौ-नौ भौम (विशिष्ट स्थान या नगर) कहे गये हैं।
५७-वाणमंतराणं देवाणं सभाओ सुहम्माओ नव जोयणाई उद्धं उच्चत्तेणं पण्णत्ताओ। वानव्यन्तर देवों की सुधर्म नाम की सभाएं नौ योजन ऊंची कही गई हैं।
