Woman. देवाण दाणवाण य मंतं मंतंति मंत-निउणा जे । इत्थो-चरिअम्मि उणो ताणवि मंता कहिं नट्ठा । ८६ ॥ देवानां दानवानां च मन्त्रं मन्त्रयन्ति मन्त्रनिपुणा ये। स्त्रीचरिते पुनस्तेषामपि मन्त्राः कुत्र नष्टाः ॥ ८६ ॥
Even the counsels of those who are expert in deliberation and who counsel gods and demons are of po avail in upravelling the character of women,
सायर-जल-परिमाणं सुर-गिरि-माणं तिलोअ-संठाणं* । जाणंति बुद्धिमंता महिला-चरियं न याति ॥ ८७ ॥ सागरजलपरिमाणं सुरगिरिमानं त्रिलोकीसंस्थानम् । जानन्ति बुद्धिमन्तो महिलाचरितं न जानन्ति ॥ ८७ ॥
The wise know the depth of the ocean, the height of the Meru hill ( lit, the bill of gods ) tlie configuration of the three worlds, but are ignorant of the nature of women.
* Another reading “ रविचरियं गहचरियं ताराचरियं च राहुचरियं च " i. e. the motions of the sun, the planets, the stars the planet Rahu.
