अविनीत शिष्यों से खिन्न होकर धर्मयान के सारथी गार्याचार्य सोचते हैं-मुझे इन दुष्ट शिष्यों से क्या लाभ है ? इनसे तो मेरी आत्मा अवसन्न-व्याकुल ही होती है ॥१५॥
Distressed by bad disciples, the driver of religious chariot, Gäryācārya thinks-What I have to do with such bad disciples? Only I am dishearatened and distressed. (15)
ज़ारिसा मम सीसाउ, तारिसा गलिगद्दहा ।
गलिगद्दहे चइत्ताणं, दढं परिगिण्हइ तवं ॥१६॥ जैसे गलि गर्दभ आलसी निकम्मे गधे होते हैं, वैसे ही ये मेरे शिष्य हैं। यह सोचकर गार्याचार्य ने उन गलि-गर्दभरूप शिष्यों को छोड़ दिया और दृढ़ तपश्चरण स्वीकार किया ॥१६॥
As the donkeys of street are lazy and of no use, so are these my disciples. Thinking thus Gārgyācārya left his all disciples and going away accepted severe penances. (16)
मिउ - मद्दवसंपन्ने, गम्भीरे सुसमाहिए । विहरइ महिं महप्पा, सीलभूएण अप्पणा ॥१७॥
-त्ति बेमि । मृदु और मार्दव गुण से संपन्न, गम्भीर, सम्यक् समाधि में लीन अपने चारित्रमय आत्मा से युक्त होकर वे महात्मा गाग्र्याचार्य पृथ्वी पर विचरण करने लगे ॥१७॥
-ऐसा मैं कहता हूँ। Opulent with virtues of unproudiness, grave, indulged in deep contemplation Gärgyācārya began to wander on this earth with his soul fixed in right conduct. (17)

विशेष स्पष्टीकरण ___गाथा १-"गणधर" शब्द के अर्थ दो होते हैं-(१) तीर्थंकर भगवान् के प्रमुख शिष्य, जैसे कि भगवान् महावीर के गौतम आदि गणधर। (२) अनुपम ज्ञान आदि गुणों के धारक आचार्य। यहाँ पर दूसरा अर्थ ही अभीष्ट है। (वृ. वृ. शान्त्याचार्य)
कर्मोदय से अथवा शिष्यों द्वारा तोड़ी गई ज्ञानादि रूप भावसमाधि का पुनः अपने आप में जोड़ना, प्रतिसन्धान है। (वृहवृत्ति)

Salient Elucidations Gatha l-There are two meanings of word Ganadhara-(1) Chief disciple of tirtharnkara, e. g., Gautama etc., ganadharas of Bhagawāna Mahavira. (2) The preceptor who possesses the extraordinary knowledge. Here this second interpretation is fit. (V.V. Santyācārya)
Pratisandhana is to join the internal contemplation again, which has been broken up by karmas or bad disciples.
