सचित्र उत्तराध्ययन सूत्र
As the sun rises, in the first quarter of first prahara of the day inspect and clean the things and then bowing down to teachers etc.,-(8)
षड्विंश अध्ययन [ ३२६
पुच्छेज्जा पंजलिउडो, किं कायव्वं मए इहं ? इच्छं निओइउं भन्ते !, वेयावच्चे व सज्झाए ॥९॥
हाथ जोड़कर पूछे कि - भगवन् ! मुझे इस समय क्या करना चाहिए? मेरी इच्छा है कि आप मुझे स्वाध्याय में नियुक्त करें अथवा वैयावृत्य में ॥ ९ ॥
Ask with the folding hands-Reverend sir! what should I do now? I wish, either you appoint me in studies or in service. (9)
वेयावच्चे निउत्तेणं, कायव्वं अगिलायओ । सज्झाए वा निउत्तेणं, सव्वदुक्खविमोक्खणे ॥१० ॥
वैयावृत्य में नियुक्त कर दिये जाने पर अग्लान होकर सेवा करे अथवा सर्वदुःखों से मुक्त करने वाले स्वाध्याय में नियुक्त किये जाने पर प्रसन्न मन से स्वाध्याय करे ॥१०॥
If appointed in service (of other sages) then should serve without untiring and with whole mind and if to studying then study, which is the cause of ending all miseries. (10)
दिवसस्स चउरो भागे, कुज्जा भिक्खू वियक्खणो । तओ उत्तरगुणे कुज्जा, दिणभागेसु चउसु वि ॥११॥
विचक्षण भिक्षु दिन के चार भाग करे। तत्पश्चात इन चार भागों में उत्तरगुणों की विधिवत् आराधना करे ॥११॥
Wise mendicant divide the day in four parts and propiliate the side-virtues all the time. (11)
पढमं पोरिसिं सज्झायं, बीयं झाणं झियायई । तइयाए भिक्खायरियं पुणो चउत्थीए सज्झायं ॥१२॥
प्रथम पौरुषी (प्रहर) में स्वाध्याय करे, दूसरे प्रहर में ध्यान, तीसरे में भिक्षाचरी और पुन: चौथे प्रहर में स्वाध्याय करे ॥ १२ ॥
Study in first prahara ( paurus i) (approximately three hour's time), meditation in second, seeking necessities in third and study in fourth. (12)

पौरुषी परिज्ञान
आषाढ़ मास में दो पैर (द्विपदा) पौरुषी होती है। पौष मास में चतुष्पदा तथा चैत्र और आश्विन मास में त्रिपदा पौरुषी होती है ॥१३॥
Knowedge of pauruși
In the lumar month of Aṣāḍha pauruși of two padas, in Paușa month of four padas and in Caitra and āświna months of three pādas. (13)
