प्रथम वक्षस्कार FIRST CHAPTER
उपोद्घात INTRODUCTION जम्बूद्वीप प्रज्ञप्ति सूत्र के सात वक्षस्कार (प्रकरण) हैं। प्रथम वक्षस्कार में तिर्यक् लोक में जम्बूद्वीप की अवस्थिति, उसमें दक्षिण भरत क्षेत्र का स्थान, वैताढ्य पर्वत, सिद्धायतन कूट आदि का वर्णन है।
Jambudveep Prajnapti Sutra has seven chapters (Vakshaskar). In the first chapter there is the description of the location of Jambudveep in the middle universe (tiryak lok), the location of southern Bharat area (kshetra), Vaitadhya mountain, Siddhayatan koot and the like. जम्बद्वीप एवं भरत क्षेत्र का वर्णन DESCRIPTION OF JAMBUDVEEP AND BHARAT AREA
१. णमो अरिहंताणं। तेणं कालेणं तेणं समएणं मिहिला णामं णयरी होत्था, रिद्धत्थिमियसमिद्धा, वण्णओ। तीसे णं मिहिलाए णयरीए बहिया उत्तर-पुरथिमे दिसीभाए एत्थ णं माणिभद्दे णामं चेइए होत्था, वण्णओ। जियसत्तू राया, धारिणीदेवी, वण्णओ।
तेणं कालेणं तेणं समएणं सामी समोसढे, परिसा निग्गया, धम्मो कहिओ, परिसा पडिगया।
१. अरिहंतों को नमस्कार। उस काल-(वर्तमान अवसर्पिणी काल के चौथे आरे के अन्त में) उस समय-(जब भगवान महावीर विद्यमान थे) मिथिला नामक नगरी थी। वह वैभव, सुरक्षा, समृद्धि आदि विशेषताओं से युक्त थी। मिथिला नगरी के बाहर उत्तर-पूर्व दिशा-(ईशान कोण) में माणिभद्र नामक
चैत्य-(यक्षायतन) था। जितशत्रु मिथिला का राजा था। धारिणी उसकी पटरानी थी (उक्त सभी का वर्णन औपपातिक आदि आगमों में आया है)।
एक समय भगवान महावीर वहाँ पधारे। लोग भगवान के दर्शन हेतु रवाना हुए, जहाँ भगवान विराजमान थे वहाँ आये। भगवान ने धर्मदेशना दी। (धर्मदेशना सुनकर) लोग वापस लौट गये। ____ 1. Obeisance to Arihants (the adored ones). At that time (the end of the fourth segment of descending time-cycle) during that period (when Lord Mahavir was present), there was a city named Mithila. It was famous for its prosperity, security, grandeur and suchlike specialities. In its north-east direction there was Manibhadra Chaitya (abode of a demigod). Jitashatru was the ruler of Mithila and his head queen was Dharini (The detailed description of all of them can be seen in Aupapatik Sutra and other Agams).
Once Bhagavan Mahavir came there. People came to the place where Mahavir was staying. They attended his discourse and thereafter returned.
