देता है, एकान्तबाल है तथा एकान्तसुप्त है, जो द्वीन्द्रिय आदि त्रस जीवों का प्रायः घात करता है, क्या वह मृत्यु का समय आने पर मरकर नैरयिकों में उत्पन्न होता है ?
(उत्तर) हाँ, गौतम, ऐसा होता है।

67. (Q.) Bhante ! Does a being after dying, at the destined moment of his death, take birth as an infernal being in case he is indisciplined or has not practiced self-restraint (asamyat); he has not abstained from violence and other such acts (avirat); he has not stopped the inflow of demeritorious karmas through resolution of perfect abstainment (pratyakhyan), he indulges in mundane activities, physical, vocal and mental (sakriya); he only inflicts pain on self and others (ekant dand), he is absolutely unrighteous or has intense false perception or belief (ekant baal), he is in a state of deep stupor of false belief (ekant supt) and indulges in killing of two sensed and other mobile beings?
(A.) Yes, Gautam ! He does.
६८. जीवे णं भंते ! असंजए अवरिए अप्पडिहयपच्चक्खायपावकम्मे इओ पेच्च देवे सिया ?
गोयमा ! अत्थेगइया देवे सिया, अत्थेगइया णो देवे सिया ।
६८. (प्रश्न) भंते ! जो असंयत है, अविरत है- जिन्होंने प्रत्याख्यान द्वारा पापकर्मों को रोका नहीं है वे यहाँ से मृत्यु प्राप्त कर आगे के जन्म में क्या देवलोक में उत्पन्न होते हैं ?
(उत्तर) गौतम ! कई देवलोक में उत्पन्न होते हैं, कई नहीं होते हैं ।
68. (Q.) Bhante ! (A.) Gautam ! Some of these are born as divine beings and some are not.
६९. से केणट्टेणं भंते ! एवं बुच्चइ अत्थेगइया देवे सिया, अत्थेगइया णो देवे सिया ?
