6. यदि “आउसं तेणं” का “आजुषमाणेन” यह संस्कृतानुवाद कर 'गुरुओं की सेवा में रहकर मर्यादा और विधिपूर्वक सुनने से'-यह अर्थ किया जाय तो यह बात सिद्ध होती है कि उचित देश में रह कर गुरु से ही (शास्त्र) सुनना चाहिए और शास्त्राध्ययन के समय कदापि आलस्य तथा निद्रादि के वशीभूत नहीं होना चाहिए ।
___ यह प्रश्न उपस्थित हो सकता है कि 'मे' 'अस्मत्-शब्द' की पष्ठी व चतुर्थी का एकवचन होने से तृतीयान्त अर्थ कैसे बता सकता है । उत्तर यह है कि यहां 'मे' चतुर्थी व पष्ठी का एकवचन नहीं किन्तु विभक्ति प्रतिरूपक अव्यय है और यहाँ पर 'अस्मत्-शब्द' की तृतीया के एकवचन का अर्थ निर्देश करता है ।
उपरोक्त रीति से प्रत्येक सूत्र-पद व वाक्य में अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार (पदार्थ व वाक्यार्थ का) विचार करना चाहिए । इस सूत्र में तो 'आप्त-वाक्य' 'कोमल-आमन्त्रण' और 'अपौरुषेय-वाक्य' तीनों विषयों का भली प्रकार वर्णन किया गया है ।
यह बात तो निर्विवाद सिद्ध है कि जब तक कोई श्रद्धा व विनय से शास्त्राध्ययन नहीं करता तब तक वह कदापि अलौकिक आनन्द प्राप्त नहीं कर सकता, न उसे आत्म-ज्ञान ही हो सकता है । इसलिए प्रत्येक जिज्ञासु को शास्त्राध्ययन श्रद्धा तथा विनय से ही करना चाहिये, जिससे अध्येता शीघ्र अभीष्ट-सिद्धि कर सके । साथ ही साथ श्रुताध्ययन के योग्य तप भी करते जाना चाहिये, जिससे अध्ययन काल में ही आत्म-समाधि I की भी भली भाँति प्राप्ति हो सके । श्री भगवान् के मुख से जो कुछ सुना उसी का अब सुचारु रूप से वर्णन करते हैं :
इह खलु थेरेहिं भगवंतेहिं बीसं असमाहि-ठाणा पण्णत्ता, कयरे खलु ते थेरेहिं भगवंतेहिं बीसं असमाहि-ठाणा पण्णत्ता, इमे खलु ते थेरेहिं भगवंतेहिं बीसं असमाहि-ठाणा पण्णत्ता । तं जहा
इह खलु स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिर्विंशतिरसमाधि-स्थानानि प्रज्ञप्तानि, कतराणि खलु तानि स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिर्विंशति-रसमाधिस्थानानि प्रज्ञप्तानि । तद्यथा
पदार्थान्वयः-इह-इस लोक में, खलु-वाक्यालङ्कार अर्थ में अव्यय है, थेरेहि-स्थविर, भगवंतेहिं-भगवन्तों ने, बीस-बीस, असमाहि-असमाधि के, ठाणा-स्थान, पण्णत्ता-प्रतिपादन
