नवमी दशा
कुत्याकृत्य का जंजाल तथा माता-पिता, पति-पत्नी आदि जितने भी सांसारिक सम्बन्ध हैं उन सब को छोड़ कर केवल जिन-वचनों के अनुसार चलते हुए आचारवान् बनने का ही पुरुषार्थ करना चाहिए । उसको अपनी वेश-भूषा और रहन-सहन साधुओं के समान बना लेना चाहिए तथा शुद्ध चरित्र बनाना चाहिए, जिससे वह शीघ्र ही पूर्व-संचित कर्म-समूह के नाश करने में समर्थ हो ।
अब सूत्रकार उक्त विषय में ही कहते हैं :आयार-गुत्तो सुद्धप्पा धम्मे हिच्चा अणुत्तरे । ततो वमे सए दोसे विसमासी विसं जहा ।। गुप्ताचारः शुद्धात्मा धर्मे स्थित्वानुत्तरे ।। ततो वमेत्स्वकान् दोषान् विषमाशी विषं यथा ।।
पदार्थान्वयः-आयार-गुत्तो-गुप्त (रक्षित) आचार वाला और सुद्धप्पा-शुद्धात्मा अणुत्तरे-प्रधान धम्मे-धर्म में विच्चा-स्थिति कर ततो-फिर सए-अपने दोसे-दोषों को वमे-छोड़ दे जहा-जैसे विसमासी-सर्प विसं-विष छोड़ देता है ।
.. मूलार्थ-गुप्त आचार वाला शुद्धात्मा श्रेष्ठ धर्म में स्थिति कर अपने दोषों को इस प्रकार छोड़ दे जैसे सर्प अपने विष को छोड़ता है । - टीका-यह सूत्र भी पूर्व सूत्र के समान उपदेश-रूप ही है । साधु को अपने ज्ञान आदि आचार की पूर्ण रक्षा करनी चाहिए और सब इन्द्रियों का अच्छी प्रकार से दमन कर तथा निरतिचार से संयम का पालन करते हुए शुद्धात्मा होकर और सर्व-श्रेष्ठ (क्षमा आदि) धर्म में स्थिर होकर अपने दोषों का इस प्रकार परित्याग करना चाहिए जिस प्रकार सर्प अपने विष का परित्याग करता है । अर्थात् जैसे सर्प जलादि में एक बार अपने विष का परित्याग कर फिर उसको ग्रहण नहीं करता इसी प्रकार साधु को भी एक बार अपने दोषों का परित्याग कर फिर किसी प्रकार भी उनको धारण नहीं करना चाहिए । इस प्रकार दोषों के परित्याग से उसका आचार पवित्र हो जाता है और फलतः वह सहज ही में स्वात्म-दर्शी बन जाता है ।
