वाचन भी अवश्य होना चाहिए क्योंकि यह सूत्र साधु और गृहस्थों के लिए अतीव शिक्षा-प्रद है । प्रायः सब तरह का क्रिया-कलाप इसमें प्रतिपादन किया गया है, जिससे भी संघ को इसके अध्ययन और श्रवण से बहुत सा लाभ हो सकता है । तथा श्री भगवान् महावीर स्वामी का जीवन-चरित्र भी इस सूत्र के आठवें अध्ययन में संक्षेप से वर्णन किया गया है । इसीलिए कल्पसूत्र के कर्ता ने यह लिखा है कि यह पाठ दशाश्रुतस्कन्ध-सूत्र के आठवें अध्ययन से उद्धृत किया गया है । अथवा योंही कहना चाहिए कि कल्पसूत्र इस सूत्र का आठवां अध्ययन मात्र है । साथ ही इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि पर्युषणा कल्प के आठ दिन केवल मोदक आदि की प्रभावना के लिए ही नहीं होते, प्रत्युत उन दिनों में उच्च से उच्चतम शिक्षा ग्रहण करनी चाहिए, जो इस सूत्र के स्वाध्याय ओर श्रवण से अच्छी तरह प्राप्त हो सकती है । इससे न केवल अपने आपको ही कोई संसार से पार करता है अपितु दूसरी आत्माओं के तारने में भी समर्थ हो जाता है |
अतः इतनी उच्च शिक्षाओं का भण्डार देखकर हमारे चित्त में यह विचार हुआ कि सर्व-साधारण के लिए इसका हिन्दी भाषा में अनुवाद अवश्य होना चाहिए । यद्यपि इसके गुजराती-मारवाड़ी भाषा में अनेक भाष्य-रूप लेख लिखे मिलते हैं और श्रीमान् मतिकीर्तिगणि विरचित संस्कृत टीका भी विद्यमान है । परन्तु अब दिन प्रतिदिन हिन्दी की उन्नति देखने में आती है और प्रत्येक प्रान्त इसको अपना रहा है । अतः सब लोग इसका लाभ उठा सकें, इसी ध्येय से यह प्रयत्न किया गया है । जो व्यक्ति संस्कृतानुरागी हैं, उनके लिए मूल सूत्र के साथ ही संस्कृत छाया भी दे दी गई है, जिससे उनको प्राकृत शब्दों के जानने में कोई भ्रम उत्पन्न न हों ।
टीका के नाम रखने का कारण _इस हिन्दी भाषा टीका का नाम 'गणपतिगुणप्रकाशिका' रखा गया है । इसका कारण यह है कि मेरे दीक्षाचार्य श्रीश्री श्री १००८ स्वामी गणावच्छेदक स्थविरपद-विभूषित श्री गणपतिराय जी महाराज हैं जिनका संक्षिप्त जीवन-चरित्र प्राक्कथन में दे दिया है। यह टीका उन्हीं के स्मरण के उपलक्ष में बनाई है | आप सौम्यमूर्ति, दीर्घदर्शी और श्रीसंघ के परम हितैषी थे । आपने सारा जीवन जिन-आज्ञापालन में ही व्यतीत किया । इस दास पर भी आपकी असीम कृपा थी । आपने ही धर्म के तत्वों से इस दास को परिचित कराया है । अतः आपके गुणों पर मुग्ध होकर आपके असीम उपकारों का स्मरण
