आज्ञा प्राप्त करते ही आप प्रसन्तापूर्वक दीक्षा ग्रहण करने के लिए श्रीश्रीश्री १००८ आचार्य-वर्य श्री पूज्य अमरसिंह जी महाराज की सेवा में अमृतसर आये । उस समय श्री दूलोराय जी, श्री शिवदयाल जी, श्री सोहनलाल जी और श्री गणपतिराय जी-ये सब मिलकर चार व्यक्ति थे । इनको दीक्षा के लिए उपस्थित हुआ देखकर श्री पूज्य आचार्य श्री महाराज ने उनको और भी वैराग्य में दृढ़ किया और बार बार संसार की अनित्यता का ज्ञान कराया । जब इन सब का वैराग्य उच्च-कोटि पर पहुंच गया तो श्री महाराज ने इन महापुरुषों को संवत् १६३३ वि. मार्गशीर्ष शुक्ला पंचमी चन्द्रवार के दिन बड़े समारोह से दीक्षित किया ।
उन दिनों श्री पूज्य मोतीराम जी महाराज नालागढ़ में विराजमान थे । श्री पूज्य अमरसिंह जी महाराज ने श्री गणपतिराय जी को इनके निश्राय में कर दिया । वहां जाकर इन्होंने अपना सारा समय ज्ञान और ध्यान में लगाना आरम्भ किया । यहां इन्होंने श्रुताध्ययन और साधु-क्रियाओं का विशेष परिचय प्राप्त किया । आपका ध्यान वैयावृत्त्य और गुरु-भक्ति में भी इसी प्रकार लग गया । इन्हीं सब गुणों के कारण आप शीघ्र ही सारे गच्छ में या श्री संघ में सुप्रसिद्ध हो गये । आपकी सौम्य आकृति, नम्रता और साधु-भक्ति ने प्रत्येक जन को मुग्ध कर दिया । इन सब गुणों के साथ-साथ आपकी दीर्घ-दर्शिता और प्रतिभा (ठीक समय पर काम आने वाली बुद्धि) विलक्षण ही थी । इस तरह साधु-वृत्ति को पालन करते हुए आपने निम्नलिखित चातुर्मास किये ।
सबसे पहला संवत् १६३४ वि. का चातुर्मास आपने श्री पूज्य मोतीराम जी के साथ खरड शहर, जिला अम्बाला में किया । दूसरा संवत् १६३५ में स्यालकोट, तीसरा जम्मू शहर, चौथा पसरूर शहर, पांचवां लुधियाना शहर, छठा अम्बाला शहर (इस समय श्री १००८ पूज्य सोहनलाल जी महाराज आदि चार ठाणे थे । उसी समय संवेगी साधु आत्माराम जी का चातुर्मास अम्बाला शहर में ही था), सातवां पूज्य मोतीराम जी महाराज के साथ नालागढ़, आठवां और नवां लुधियाना (इस समय श्री विलासराय जी महाराज भी यहां विराजमान थे, अतः इन्हीं की सेवा के लिए आपने भी यहीं चातुर्मास किया),
