कदापि भय-भीत नहीं करना चाहिए । सम्भव है कि वह भय-भीत होकर अपने रास्ते से विचलित हो जायं और किसी भयङ्कर जङ्गल में जाकर सिंह आदि हिंसक पशु के चंगुल में फंस जायँ तो उनकी हिंसा का कारण वही होगा । अतः सौम्य पशुओं को कदापि भय-भीत नहीं करना चाहिए; नाही दुष्टों से स्वयं डर कर उन्मार्ग होना चाहिए ।
अब सूत्रकार दृढ़ प्रतिज्ञा या आसन के विषय में कहते हैं :
मासियं भिक्खु-पडिमं पडिवन्नस्स नो कप्पति छायाओ सीयंति नो उण्हं इयत्तए, उण्हाओ उण्हंति नो छायं इयत्तए । जं जत्थ जया सिया तं तत्थ तया अहियासए ।
मासिकी भिक्षु-प्रतिमां प्रतिपन्नः(स्य) नो कल्पते छायातः शीतमिति (कृत्वा) उष्णं (स्थानम्) एतुम्, उष्णतः उष्णमिति (कृत्वा) छायामेतुम् । यो यत्र यदा स्यात् सस्तत्र तदाधिसहेत् ।
पदार्थान्वयः-मासियं–मासिकी भिक्खु-पडिम पडिवन्नस्स-भिक्षु-प्रतिमा प्रतिपन्न अनगार को छायाओ-छाया से सीयंति-'शीत है' कह कर उण्हं-उष्ण स्थान पर इयत्तए-जाना, इसी प्रकार उण्हाओ-गरम जगह से उण्हंति-गरम है' कह कर छायं-छाया में इयत्तए-जाना नो कप्पति-योग्य नहीं । किन्तु -जो जत्थ-जहां जया-जिस समय सिया-हो तं-वह तत्थ-वहीं तया-उस समय अहियासए-शीत या उष्ण का परीषह (कष्ट) सहन करे ।
मूलार्थ-मासिकी भिक्षु-प्रतिमा-प्रतिपन्न साधु को शीत स्थान से शीत के भय से उठ कर उष्ण स्थान और उष्ण स्थान से गर्मी के भय से शीत स्थान पर नहीं जाना चाहिए । किन्तु वह जिस समय जहां पर हो उस समय वहीं पर शीत या उष्ण का परीषह सहन करे ।
टीका-इस सूत्र में भी पहले सूत्र के समान आत्म-बल के विषय में ही कथन किया गया है । जब प्रतिमा-प्रतिपन्न साधु शीतकाल में किसी ठण्डे स्थान पर बैठा हो तो उसको शीत निवारण के लिए गरम जगह पर नहीं जाना चाहिए, इसी प्रकार ग्रीष्म ऋतु में गरम स्थान से उठकर छाया में जाना योग्य नहीं । साधु को चाहिए कि जिस स्थान पर जिस समय बैठा हो उसी स्थान पर अपनी मर्यादा से बैठा रहे । मन की

Then, the cause of their violence will be that very fright. Therefore, one should never frighten gentle animals; nor should one deviate from the right path out of fear of the wicked.

Now, the Sutrakar speaks about firm resolve or posture:

**"A monk who has taken the vow of non-violence should not move from the shade because it is cold, nor should he move to the shade because it is hot. He should endure whatever is there at that time."**
