ताओ थेरेहिं भगवंतेहिं बारस भिक्खु-पडिमाओ पण्णत्ताओ ? इमाओ खलु ताओ थेरेहिं भगवंतेहिं बारस भिक्खु-पडिमाओ पण्णत्ताओ । तं जहा :
श्रुतं मया, आयुष्मन् !, तेन भगवतैवमाख्यातम्, इह खलु स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिादश भिक्षु-प्रतिमाः प्रज्ञप्ताः । कतराः खलु ताः स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिादश भिक्षु-प्रतिमाः प्रज्ञप्ताः ? इमाः खलु ताः स्थविरैर्भगवद्भिादश भिक्षु-प्रतिमाः प्रज्ञप्ताः । तद्यथाः
पदार्थान्चयः-आउसं-हे आयुष्मन् शिष्य ! मे-मैंने सुयं-सुना है तेणं-उस भगवया-भगवान् ने एवं-इस प्रकार अक्खायं-प्रतिपादन किया है इह-इस जिन शासन में खलु-निश्चय से थेरे हिं-स्थविर भगवंतेहिं-भगवन्तों ने बारस-बारह भिक्खु-पडिमाओ-भिक्षु-प्रतिमाएं पण्णत्ताओ-प्रतिपादन की हैं । (शिष्य प्रश्न करता है) कयरा-कौन सी ताओ-वे थेरेहि-स्थविर भगवंतेहिं-भगवन्तों ने बारस-बारह भिक्खु-पडिमाओ-भिक्षु की प्रतिमाएं पण्णत्ताओ-प्रतिपादन की हैं ? (गुरु कहते हैं) इमाओ-ये खलु-निश्चय से ताओ-वे थेरेहिं-स्थविर भगवंतेहिं-भगवन्तों ने बारस-बारह भिक्खु-पडिमाओ-भिक्षु की प्रतिमाएं पण्णत्ताओ-प्रतिपादन की हैं । तं जहा-जैसे:___मूलार्थ-हे आयुष्मन् शिष्य ! मैंने सुना है, उस भगवान् ने इस प्रकार प्रतिपादन किया है । इस जिन-शासन में स्थविर भगवन्तों ने बारह भिक्षु-प्रतिमाओं का वर्णन किया है । शिष्य प्रश्न करता है "हे गुरुदेव ! कौन सी बारह भिक्षु-प्रतिमाएं स्थविर भगवन्तों ने प्रतिपादन की हैं ?" उत्तर में गुरु कहते हैं कि वक्ष्यमाण बारह भिक्षु-प्रतिमाएं स्थविर भगवन्तों ने प्रतिपादन की हैं । जैसे:
