वाचना दे ले सकते हैं । इस प्रकार शुद्धिपूर्वक स्वाध्याय करने में प्रयत्नशील होना चाहिए ।
अब प्रश्न यह उपस्थित होता है कि-अस्वाध्याय मूल सूत्र का होता है या अनुप्रेक्षादि का भी? इसका उत्तर यही है कि-ठाणांग सूत्र के वृत्तिकार अभयदेव सूरि चार महा प्रतिपदाओं की वृत्ति करते समय प्रथम ही यह लिखते हैं:
"स्वाध्यायो नन्द्यादिसूत्रविषयो वाचनादिः अनुप्रेक्षा तु न निषिध्यते"
इस कथन से सिद्ध हुआ कि केवल संहिता-मात्र का अस्वाध्याय है, अनुप्रेक्षा आदि का नहीं ।
