Thief of looks (Rupasten)-A person heard the fame of good looks of 15 a monk. He after seeing a good-looking monk asks him if he is the same i monk who is famous for his looks. If that monk replies in affirmative si
although actually he is not the monk whose fame of looks has spread far and wide or replies deceitfully in a crooked manner so that the person 15 asking him may have the impression that he is the concerned monk famous for his looks, then he is thief of looks.
Beauty is of two types, namely the beauty of the physical body and 45 the beauty of the dress of the monk in accordance with the code in
scriptures. A monk is not strictly following the code as mentioned in $ scriptures. But in order to attract the public and to create an impression S that he is the best amongst all in following the rules, he dresses himself
in a dirty cloth, has his body besmeared with dirt and keeps only two pots, then he is called thief of looks or appearance.
Similarly one should understand thief of conduct (acharasten) and thief of contemplation. ॐ अस्तेय के आराधक कौन ? WHO IS PRACTITIONER OF NON-STEALING
१३२. [प्र. ] अह केरिसए पुणाई आराहए वयमिणं ?
[उ. ] जे से उवहि-भत्त-पाण-संगहण-दाण-कुसले अच्चंतबाल-दुब्बल-गिलाण-वुडॐ खवग-पवत्ति-आयरिय-उवज्झाए सेहे साहम्मिए तवस्सी-कुल-गण-संघ-चेइयट्टे य णिज्जरही
वेयावच्चं अणिस्सियं दसविहं बहुविहं करेइ, ण य अचियत्तस्स गिहं पविसइ, ण य अचियत्तस्स गिण्हइ
भत्तपाणं, ण य अचियत्तस्स सेवइ पीढ-फलग-सिज्जा-संथारग-वत्थ-पाय-कंबल-दंडगमरयहरण-णिसिज्ज-चोलपट्टय-मुहपोत्तियं पायपुंछणाइ-भायण-भंडोवहिउवगरणं ण य परिवायं परस्स
जंपइ, ण यावि दोसे परस्स गिण्हइ, परववएसेण वि ण किंचि गिण्हइ, ण य विपरिणामेइ किंचि जणं, ण 卐 यावि णासेइ दिण्णसुकयं दाऊणं य ण होइ पच्छाताविए संभागसीले संग्गहोवग्गहकुसले से तारिसए * आराहए वयमिणं। 5 १३२. [प्र. ] (यदि पूर्वोक्त प्रकार के साधक इस व्रत की आराधना नहीं कर सकते) तो फिर * कौन-सा साधक इस व्रत की आराधना कर सकता है। 1 [उ.] इस अस्तेयव्रत का आराधक वही साधु हो सकता है जो-वस्त्र, पात्र आदि धर्मोपकरण, 5 आहार-पानी आदि का संग्रह करने और संविभाग करने में कुशल हो। जो अत्यन्त बाल, दुर्बल, रोगी, + वृद्ध और मासक्षपक-मासिक उपवास आदि तपश्चर्या करने वाले साधु की, प्रवर्तक, आचार्य, उपाध्याय
की, नवदीक्षित साधु की तथा साधर्मिक-लिंग एवं प्रवचन से समानधर्मा साधु की, तपस्वी, कुल, गण, * संघ के चित्त की प्रसन्नता के लिए सेवा करने वाला हो।
