(३) रसनेन्द्रिय का विषय- रस, और (४) स्पर्शनेन्द्रिय का विषय - स्पर्श । (चक्षु इन्द्रिय रूप के साथ संयोग हुए बिना ही अपने विषय रूप को देखती है ।)
497. The subjects of four sense organs are known by the receptor organ through touch only – (1) the subject of shrotrendriya (ear ) — sound, (2) the subject of ghranendriya ( nose ) - smell, (3) the subject of rasanendriya (taste-buds)-taste, and (4) the subject of sparshanendriya (touch)—touch. (Chakshu- indriya knows its subject without coming in contact with it.)

४९८. चउहिं ठाणेहिं जीवा य पोग्गला य णो संचाएंति बहिया लोगंता गमणयाए, गतिअभावेणं, णिरुवग्गहयाए, लुक्खताए, लोगाणुभावेणं ।

४९८. इन चार कारणों से जीव और पुद्गल लोकान्त से बाहर (अलोक में) गमन नहीं कर
सकते - (१) गति के अभाव से -जैसे दीपशिखा का स्वभाव नीचे जाने का नहीं है, वैसे लोकान्त से आगे
इनका गति करने का स्वभाव नहीं होने से । (२) निरुपग्रहता से - जैसे पंगु पुरुष गाड़ी आदि साधन के अभाव में गति नहीं कर सकता, वैसे धर्मास्तिकाय रूप उपग्रह अर्थात् निमित्त कारण का अभाव होने से । (३) रूक्ष होने से - लोकान्त में स्निग्ध पुद्गल भी रूक्ष रूप से परिणत हो जाते हैं, जिस कारण उनका आगे गमन सम्भव नहीं तथा कर्म-पुद्गलों के भी रूक्ष रूप से परिणत हो जाने के कारण संसारी जीवों का भी लोक के बाहर गमन सम्भव नहीं रहता । (४) लोकानुभाव से - जैसे सूर्य, चन्द्र आदि सौर मण्डल अपने मार्ग में दूसरी ओर नहीं जाते, वैसे ही लोक की स्वाभाविक मर्यादा से बँधे होने से जीव और लोकान्त से आगे नहीं जा सकते।

For four reasons soul and matter cannot move beyond Lokant (edge of occupied space ) - ( 1 ) Absence of natural movement (gati ) - the natural movement of a flame is upwards and not downwards, in the same way the natural movement of soul and matter is confined to Lok and not beyond. (2) Absence of means (nirupagrahata)—a disabled person cannot move in absence of a vehicle or other such means, in the same way in the absence of Dharmastikaya (motion entity), the cause of motion, in Alok (unoccupied space) matter and soul cannot move beyond 5 Lokant. (3) Roughness (rukshata ) — at the edge of Lok smooth particles, including the karma-particles, turn rough making it impossible
