includes those who have formally and actually or physically and 4 mentally renounced sins, for example apramatt samyami (accomplished and alert sages). The fourth category is of ordinary worldly people who 46
are generally involved in violence and are also attached to mundane 4 pleasures.
____ Sanjna-strong desire or craving. It is of four kinds-ahar-sanjna or
craving for food, bhaya-sanjna or desire to run away out of fear, __maithun-sanjna or sexual desire and parigraha-sanjna or covetousness.
४६५. चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-परिण्णातसण्णे णाममेगे णो परिण्णातगिहावासे, * परिणातगिहावासे णाममेगे [णो परिण्णातसण्णे, एगे परिण्णातसण्णेवि परिण्णातगिहावासेवि, एगे 5 णो परिण्णातसण्णे णो परिण्णातगिहावासे ]।
४६५. पुरुष चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई पुरुष संज्ञाओं (वासनाओं) का परित्यागी तो होता है, किन्तु गृहावास का परित्यागी नहीं होता। (२) कोई गृहावास का त्यागी तो होता है, किन्तु इच्छा का त्यागी नहीं होता। (३) कोई परिज्ञातसंज्ञा भी होता है और परिज्ञातगृहावास भी, (४) कोई न परिज्ञातसंज्ञा होता है और न परिज्ञातगृहावास होता है।
465. Purush (men) are of four kinds-(1) some man is parijnat-sanjna 6 (who renounces desires) but not parijnat-grihavas (who renounces Ī household), (2) some man is parijnat-grihavas but not parijnat-sanjna,
(3) some man is parijnat-sanjna as well as parijnat-grihavas, and ! (4) some man is neither parijnat-sanjna nor parijnat-grihavas. इहार्थ-परार्थ-पद IHARTH-PARARTH-PAD (SEGMENT OF THIS AND THE NEXT BIRTH)
४६६. चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-इहत्थे णाममेगे णो परत्थे, परत्थे णाममेगे णो इहत्थे। [ एगे इहत्थेवि परत्थेवि, एगे णो इहत्थे णो परत्थे ]। ___४६६. पुरुष चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई पुरुष इहार्थ-(लौकिक प्रयोजन वाला) होता है, किन्तु परार्थ-(पारलौकिक प्रयोजन वाला) नहीं होता। (जैसे नास्तिकवादी)। (२) कोई परार्थ होता है, किन्तु इहार्थ नहीं होता। (जैसे-परलोक के सुखों के लिए लौकिक सुखों को त्यागने वाला)। (३) कोई इहार्थ भी होता है और परार्थ भी होता है, (जैसे-धर्मपूर्वक जीवन जीने वाला सद्गृहस्थ), (४) कोई न इहार्थ होता है और न परार्थ ही होता है।
466. Purush (men) are of four kinds—(1) some man is iharth (who 5 strives for gains during this birth) but not pararth (who strives for gains in the next birth, like an atheist), (2) some man is pararth but not iharth (like those who sacrifice gains in this life for a better next life), (3) some man is iharth as well as pararth (like a devout householder), and (4) some man is neither iharth nor pararth.
