In the same way purush (men) are of four kinds—(1) some man moves on the right path (margagami) and not on the wrong path (unmargagami), (2) some man moves on the wrong path (unmargagami) and not on the right path (margagami), (3) some man moves on the right path (margagami) and also on the wrong path (unmargagami), and (4) some man moves neither on the right path (margagami) nor on the wrong path (unmargagami).

(SEGMENT OF APPEARANCE, CHARACTER AND FLOWER) ३८९. चत्तारि पुप्फा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-रूवसंपण्णे णाममेगे णो गंधसंपण्णे, गंधसंपण्णे णाममेगे णो रूवसंपण्णे, एगे रूवसंपण्णे वि गंधसंपण्णे वि, एगे णो रूवसंपण्णे णो गंधसंपण्णे।।
एवामेव चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-रूवसंपण्णे णाममेगे णो सीलसंपण्णे, सीलसंपण्णे मणाममेगे णो रूवसंपण्णे, एगे रूवसंपण्णेवि सीलसंपण्णेवि, एगे णो रूवसंपण्णे णो सीलसंपण्णे।
३८९. पुष्प चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई पुष्प रूपसम्पन्न (सुन्दर) होता है, किन्तु गन्धसम्पन्न । नहीं। जैसे-आकुलि (आक) का फूल; (२) कोई गन्धसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु रूपसम्पन्न नहीं। जैसेॐ मौलश्री व रातरानी का फूल; (३) कोई रूपसम्पन्न और गन्धसम्पन्न भी होता है। जैसे-गुलाब व जुही का ।
फूल; और (४) कोई न रूपसम्पन्न होता है और न गन्धसम्पन्न होता है। जैसे-टेसू का फूल। ॐ इसी प्रकार पुरुष भी चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई रूपसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु शीलसम्पन्न नहीं; ।
(२) कोई शीलसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु रूपसम्पन्न नहीं; (३) कोई रूपसम्पन्न होता है और शीलसम्पन्न भी; और (४) कोई न रूपसम्पन्न होता है और न शीलसम्पन्न ही होता है।
389. Pushpa (flowers) are of four kinds (1) Some pushpa (flower) has rupa (beauty) but not gandh (fragrance). For example Akuli flower (ark flower). (2) Some pushpa (flower) has gandh (fragrance) but not rupa (beauty). For example Maulashri and Raat-rani flowers (Milusops elengi y and queen of night flowers). (3) Some pushpa (flower) has gandh : (fragrance) as well as rupa (beauty). For example Gulab and Juhi flowers (rose and jasmine flowers). (4) Some pushpa (flower) has neither gandh (fragrance) nor rupa (beauty). For example Tesu flower (Palash or Butea frondosa flowers).
