卐 246. Katha (religious discourse) is of four kinds – ( 1 ) aakshepani - फ
religions,
katha-discourse that creates attraction for right knowledge, right perception/faith etc., (2) vikshepani-katha-discourse establishing one's own religion after stating other (3) samvedani-katha-discourse that inspires detachment by showing ugliness and other detestable attributes of body, and (4) nirvedani - katha-discourse that inspires apathy for sinful deeds by enumerating bitter fruits of karmas.

२४७. (१) अक्खेवणी कहा चउव्विहा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा - आयार अक्खेवणी, ववहार अक्खेवणी, पण्णत्तिअक्खेवणी, दिट्टिवाय अक्खेवणी ।

(१) आक्षेपणी कथा चार प्रकार की है - (१) आचार आक्षेपणी-साधु और श्रावक के आचार का वर्णन कर श्रोता को आकर्षित करना । (२) व्यवहाराक्षेपणी-व्यवहार- प्रायश्चित्त लेने और न लेने के गुण-दोषों की चर्चा । (३) प्रज्ञप्ति - आक्षेपणी - संशयग्रस्त श्रोता के संशय को दूर कर उन्हें सम्बोधित करना । (४) दृष्टिवादा क्षेपणी - विभिन्न नयों की दृष्यिों से श्रोता की योग्यतानुसार तत्त्व का निरूपण करना ।
२४८. (२) विक्खेवणी कहा चउव्विहा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा- - (१) ससमयं कहेइ, ससमयं कहित्ता परसमयं कहेइ, (२) परसमयं कहेत्ता ससमयं ठावइत्ता भवति, (३) सम्मावायं कहेइ, सम्मावायं कहेत्ता मिच्छावायं कहेइ, (४) मिच्छावायं कहेत्ता सम्मावायं टाइवत्ता भवति ।
२४८. (२) विक्षेपणी कथा चार प्रकार की है। जैसे- (१) पहले स्व- समय ( स्व - सिद्धान्त) को फ कहना, पुनः स्व- समय कहकर पर समय ( पर - सिद्धान्त) को कहना । (२) पहले पर समय को कहना, पुनः स्व- समय को कहकर उसकी स्थापना करना । (३) पर समय-गत सम्यक् तत्त्वों का कथन कर पुनः उनके मिथ्या तत्त्वों को कहना । अथवा - आस्तिकवाद का निरूपण कर नास्तिकवाद का निरूपण
5 करना । (४) पर समय-गत मिथ्या तत्त्वों का कथन कर सम्यक् तत्त्व का निरूपण करना ।

(1) Aakshepani-katha is of four kinds-(1) achar-akshepani-to attract audience by describing the conduct of ascetic and shravak, फ (2) vyavahar-akshepani-discussion about merits and faults of accepting 5 formal atonement, (3) prajnapti akshepani-to address a wavering 5 th audience after removing its doubts, and (4) drishtivad-akshepani - to elaborate fundamentals from different standpoints (naya) according to the ability of the listener.
