वृषभ-बल-पद VRISHABH-BAL-PAD (SEGMENT OF STRENGTH OF BULL)
२३५. चत्तारि उसभा पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-बलसंपण्णे णाम एगे णो रूवसंपण्णे, रूवसंपण्णे णामं एगे णो बलसंपण्णे, एगे बलसंपण्णेवि रूपसंपण्णेवि, एगे णो बलसंपण्णे णो रूवसंपण्णे।
एवामेव चत्तारि पुरिसजाया पण्णत्ता, तं जहा-बलसंपण्णे णाममेगे [ णो रूवसंपण्णे, रूवसंपण्णे णाममेगे णो बलसंपण्णे, एग बलसंपण्णेवि रूवसंपण्णेवि, एगे णो बलसंपण्णे णो रूवसंपण्णे।]
२३५. वृषभ चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई बैल बलसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु रूपसम्पन्न नहीं होता; (२) कोई रूपसम्पन्न होता है, किन्त बलसम्पन्न नहीं: (3) कोई बलसम्पन्न भी होता है और रूपसम्पन्न भी; और (४) कोई न बलसम्पन्न होता है न रूपसम्पन्न। ___ पुरुष भी चार प्रकार के होते हैं-(१) कोई पुरुष बलसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु रूपसम्पन्न नहीं होता; (२) कोई रूपसम्पन्न होता है, किन्तु बलसम्पन्न नहीं; (३) कोई बलसम्पन्न भी होता है और रूपसम्पन्न भी; और (४) कोई न बलसम्पन्न होता है और न रूपसम्पन्न।
235. Vrishabh (bull) are of four kinds-(1) Some bull is bal sampanna (strong) and not rupa sampanna (beautiful). (2) Some bull is rupa sampanna and not bal sampanna. (3) Some bull is both bal sampanna and rupa sampanna. (4) Some bull is neither bal sampanna nor rupa sampanna.
Purush (men) are also of four kinds-(1) Some man is bal sampanna (strong) and not rupa sampanna (beautiful). (2) Some man is rupa sampanna and not bal sampanna. (3) Some man is both bal sampanna (strong) and rupa sampanna (beautiful). (4) Some man is neither bal sampanna nor rupa sampanna.
विवेचन-पशु जाति में गौवंश उत्तम माना गया है। गाय की तरह वृषभ (सांड या बैल) भी मंगल स्वरूप होता है; भगवान ऋषभदेव की माता ने सर्वप्रथम वृषभ का स्वप्न देखा था। जो वृषभ उत्तम माता-पिता की सन्तान है, वह जाति व कुलसम्पन्न कहा जाता है। भार वहन के समर्थ वृषभ बलसम्पन्न तथा शरीर से सुन्दर हृष्ट-पुष्ट रूपसम्पन्न कहा जाता है। इन गुणों से पुरुष के साथ तुलना की गई हैजाति की उच्चता से, लज्जाशील पाप-भीरु , अच्छी प्रकृति वाला, कुल की उच्चता से, गंभीर, धीर, उद्यमी होता है। जिसमें दोनों विशेषताएँ होती हैं, वह बलवान व रूपवान भी होता है। (हिन्दी टीका, पृ. ७६७)
