F Elaboration-One pouring, without a break, of water or other liquid is called a datti. The quantity that will last a whole day to quench thirst of
one person is called utkrisht datti, a little less than that is madhyam fi datti and that just enough to quench thirst just once is jaghanya datti. (Tika by Abhayadev Suri, p. 235)
5 विसंभोग - पद VISAMBHOG-PAD (SEGMENT OF OSTRACIZING)
२३४. तिहिं ठाणेहिं समणे णिग्गंथे साहिम्मयं संभोगियं विसंभोगियं करेमाणे णातिक्कमइ, तं जहा - सयं वा दठ्ठे, सड्ढयस्स वा णिसम्म, तच्चं मोसं आउट्टति, चउत्थं णो आउट्टति । २३४. तीन कारणों से श्रमण निर्ग्रन्थ अपने साधर्मिक, साम्भोगिक साधु को विसम्भोगिक करता
हुआ (भगवान की आज्ञा का अतिक्रमण नहीं करता है - ( १ ) स्वयं किसी को सामाचारी के प्रतिकूल #आचरण करता देखकर । (२) श्राद्ध ( विश्वासपात्र व्यक्ति) से सुनकर। (३) तीन बार मृषा (अनाचार ) का प्रायश्चित्त देने के बाद चौथी बार प्रायश्चित्त का विधान नहीं होने के कारण।

विवेचन- जिन साधुओं का परस्पर आहारादि के आदान-प्रदान का व्यवहार होता है उन्हें साम्भोगिक कहा जाता है। कोई साम्भोगिक साधु यदि साधु-सामाचारी के विरुद्ध आचरण करता है, उसके उस कार्य को संघका नेता साधु स्वयं देख ले, या किसी विश्वस्त साधु या सद्गृहस्थ से सुन ले तथा उसको उसी अपराध की शुद्धि के लिए तीन बार प्रायश्चित्त भी दिया जा चुका हो, फिर भी यदि वह चौथी बार उसी अपराध को करे तो संघ का नेता आचार्य आदि अपनी साम्भोगिक साधु - मण्डली से पृथक् कर सकता है। पृथक् किये गये साधु को विसम्भोगिक कहते हैं। अन्य समूह के साधु संन्यासी असंभोगिक कहे जाते हैं। Elaboration-The ascetics who have relationship of mutual exchange of food and other ascetic-equipment are called sambhogik (this generally means ascetic of the same group or those following the same codes). If the leader of a group himself finds some sambhogik ascetic going against samachari (ascetic-praxis) or comes to know from a reliable ascetic or fi layman, he prescribes atonement. On repeating the misconduct atonement can be prescribed for a maximum of three times. Even then if the ascetic commits mistake for the fourth time the leader can expel that sambhogik ascetic from his group. Such ostracized ascetic is called visambhogik sadhu. Ascetic belonging to other groups are called asambhogik sadhus.

(2) Hearing that from a confidant. (3) After three atonements for misconduct, as there is no provision for a fourth atonement.
