शब्दों के भेद-प्रभेद भाषात्मक शब्द दो प्रकार के हैं-(१) अक्षरात्मक-जैसे मुँह से कमल आदि शब्द बोलना। (२) नोअक्षरात्मक (ध्वन्यात्मक)-जैसे मुँह से सी-सी सीटी जैसी आवाज निकालना। तोता, मोर व मेंढक आदि की ध्वनि, कुत्ते आदि का भौंकना, भौंरों आदि का गुंजन भी नोअक्षरात्मक है। ___नोभाषा शब्द के दो प्रकार हैं-(१) आतोद्य-बैण्ड आदि बाजों की ध्वनि, (२) नोआतोद्य-बाजों से
अन्य ध्वनियाँ। ___आतोद्य शब्द के भेद-(I) तत-वीणा, सारंगी आदि का शब्द, (II) वितत-ढोल, नगाड़ा आदि का शब्द। (I) घन-झाँझ, झालर आदि का स्वर, (II) शुषिर-बाँसुरी, वीणा आदि का शब्द। भूषण शब्द-नृत्य करते हुए घुघुरु आदि का स्वर या चूड़ियों आदि की खनखनाहट। नोभूषण शब्द-ताल-ताली बजाना, लतिका-पैरों की आहट आदि। ___शब्दों की उत्पत्ति के दो प्रमुख कारण हैं-(१) संघर्षण-जैसे हवा की टकराहट से वृक्षों की पत्तियों
की ध्वनि, जल-प्रपात की ध्वनि आदि। (२) विदारण या विस्फोट-जैसे-बम फटने का धमाका, बाँस आदि फटने से, बन्दूक की गोली निकलने से। चित्र में शब्दों के विविध भेद तथा शब्दोत्पत्ति के कारण दर्शाये हैं।

CATEGORIES AND SUB-CATEGORIES OF SOUND
Bhasha shabd is of two kinds-(1) Aksharatmak-to utter words like 'kamal' from mouth, (2) Noaksharatmak-to produce whistling sound. Variety of sounds produced by parrot, peacock, frog, dog, bumble-bees etc. also come in this class.
Nobhasha shabd is of two kinds—(1) Aatodya shabd-sound produced by drum like percussion instruments. (2) Noaatodya shabd-sounds other than those of musical instruments.
Kinds of Aatodya shabd—(I) Tat—sound of string instruments like Veena and Sarangi, (II) Vitat-sound of instruments like drums. (I) Ghan-sound of percussion instruments like cymbal, (II) Sushir--sound of Veena, flute etc. Bhushan shabdsound of ornaments like nupur, bracelet etc. Nobhushan shabd-Taal-sound of clapping, Lattika--sound of foot steps etc.
Two main causes of origin of sound-(1) Sangharshan--sound produced by collision of leaves due to wind; sound of a waterfall. (2) Vidaran (breaking, disintegrating or explosion) for example explosion of a bomb, breaking of bamboo, firing of a gun etc. Illustration shows kinds of sound with its origin.
