३ . [ प्र. ] कहि णं भंते ! जंबुद्दीवे दीवे ? किंसंटिए णं भंते ! जंबुद्दीवे दीवे ?
[उ. ] एवं जंबुद्दीवपण्णत्ती भाणियव्वा जाव एवामेव सपुव्वावरेणं जंबुद्दीवे दीवे चोद्दस सलिलासयसहस्सा छप्पन्नं च सहस्सा भवंतीति मक्खाया।
सेवं भंते! सेवं भंते ! ति० ।
महावीर से) इस प्रकार पूछा
॥ नवम सए पढमो उद्देसओ समत्तो ॥
३ . [ प्र. ] भगवन् ! जम्बूद्वीप नामक द्वीप कहाँ है ? ( उसका ) संस्थान (आकार) किस प्रकार का है ?
[ उ. ] गौतम ! इस विषय में जम्बूद्वीपप्रज्ञप्ति में कहे अनुसार यावत्-इसी तरह जम्बूद्वीप नामक
द्वीप में पूर्व सहित अपर (पूर्व समुद्र और पश्चिम समुद्र) की ओर जाकर उनमें गिरने वाली चौदह ला छप्पन हजार नदियाँ हैं, ऐसा कहा गया है; (यहाँ तक) कहना चाहिए।
3. [Q.] Bhante ! Please tell me what is the location of the continent called Jambudveep ? What is its structure (samsthaan ) ?

[Ans.] Gautam ! On this, refer to Jambudveep Prajnapti ... and so on up to... "This way it is said that in the continent called Jambudveep there are one million fifty six thousand rivers flowing towards and falling in the eastern sea and the western sea.'
