२३. [प्र. ] धायइसडेणं भंते ! दीवे सूरिया उदीण-पाईणमुग्गच्छ?
[उ. ] जहेव जंबुद्दीवस्स क्त्तव्बया भणिया सच्चेव धायइसंडस्स वि भाणियव्या, नवरं इमेणं अभिलावेणं सब्बे आलावगा भाणियवा-जया णं भंते !
[प्र. ] धायईसंडे दीवे दाहिणड्ढे दिवसे भवति तया णं उत्तरड्ढे वि ? जया णं उत्तरड्ढे वि तया णं धायइसंडे दीवे मंदराणं पव्वयाणं पुरथिम-पच्चत्थिमेणं राई भवति ?
[उ. ] हंता, गोयमा ! एवं जाव राई भवति।
२३. [प्र. १ ] भगवन् ! धातकीखण्ड द्वीप में सूर्य, ईशानकोण में उदय होकर क्या अग्निकोण में अस्त होते हैं ? इत्यादि प्रश्न।।
[उ. ] हे गौतम ! जिस प्रकार की वक्तव्यता जम्बूद्वीप के सम्बन्ध में कही गई है, उसी प्रकार की सारी वक्तव्यता धातकीखण्ड के विषय में भी कहनी चाहिए। परन्तु विशेष यह है कि इस पाठ का उच्चारण करते समय सभी आलापक इस प्रकार कहने चाहिए।
[प्र. २ ] भगवन् ! जब धातकीखण्ड के दक्षिणार्द्ध में दिन होता है, तब क्या उत्तरार्द्ध में भी दिन होता है? और जब उत्तरार्द्ध में दिन होता है, तब क्या धातकीखण्ड द्वीप के मन्दर पर्वतों से पूर्व-पश्चिम में रात्रि होती है ? [उ. ] हाँ, गौतम ! यह इसी तरह (होता है।) यावत् रात्रि होती है।
23. [Q.1] Bhante ! In the Dhataki Khand continent do suns rise in the north-east (Ishan Kone) and set in the south-east (Agneya Kone) ? (Repeat the complete question as asked in case of Jambudveep.)
[Ans.] Gautam ! What has been stated about the suns of Jambudveep should be repeated here verbatim about suns of Dhataki Khand continent. The difference is that the name should be changed. This way the whole description should be narrated.
[Q.2] Bhante ! When it is day in the southern half of Dhataki Khand, is it also day in its northern half? And when there is day in the northern half of Dhataki Khand, is there night on the east and west of the Mandar mountain in Dhataki Khand ?
(Ans.) Yes, Gautam ! (It is like that)... and so on up to... there is night on the east and west of the Mandar mountain ?
२४. [प्र. ] जया णं भंते ! धायइसडे दीवे मंदराणं पब्बयाणं पुरथिमेणं दिवसे भवति तया णं पच्चत्थिमेणं वि? जया णं पच्चत्थिमेण वि तया णं धायइसंडे दीवे मंदराणं पव्वयाणं उत्तरदाहिणेणं राई भवति ?
