कर्कश वेदनीय कर्म का बंध व भोग

कर्कश वेदनीय कर्म उदय काल में अत्यन्त उग्र व भयानक पीड़ा दायक होता है। (i) जैसे विपाक सूत्र में नन्दीषण कुमार आदि के उदाहरण हैं। जिन्होंने पूर्वजन्म में घोर हिंसा, चोरी, व्यभिचार आदि का सेवन किया। वे कर्म उदय में आने पर राजपुरुषों ने गाढ़ बंधन में बाँधकर लोहे को गर्म तवे पर उसे बैठाया, सिर पर तपे लोहे की पट्टी बाँधी, भाली, तलवारों से शरीर का छेदन कर उस पर खौलता सीसा नमक आदि डाला। वह घोर वेदना भोगता रहा।
(ii) जिस प्रकार खंधक मुनि के पूर्व में बाँधे कर्कश वेदनीय कर्म का उदय होने पर जल्लादों ने उनके शरीर की चमड़ी उतारी। इस प्रकार की असह्य वेदना का भोग कर्कश वेदनीय का दृष्टान्त है।
कर्कश वेदनीय बँधने के मुख्य कारण हैं-१८ प्रकार के पाप स्थानों का पुनः-पुनः आचरण-सेवन। जैसे-हिंसा, झूठ, चोरी, व्यभिचार, लोभ, क्रोध, मान, माया, लोभ, राग (परस्त्री से राग) द्वेष, कलह, अभ्याख्यान-झूठा दोषारोपण, चुगली, पर-निन्दा, माया-कपटाचार, झूठे लेख आदि कराना तथा मिथ्यादर्शन-हिंसा आदि में धर्म-पुण्य मानना।
चित्र में क्रोध का प्रतीक-पुकारता नाग, मान का प्रतीक स्तब्ध हाथी, कपट का प्रतीक मछली पकड़ता बगुला, लोभ का प्रतीक धान्य संग्रह करता चूहा तथा जाति-द्वेष का प्रतीक लड़ते हुए साँप-नेवला दिखाया गया है।

BONDAGE AND EXPERIENCE OF KARKASH VEDANIYA KARMAS
Karkash vedaniya karma causes extremely intense and fierce pain on fruition.
(i) One of the examples of this from Vipaak Sutra is about prince Nandishen Kumar. He indulged in extreme violence, theft and adultery in his previous birth. When the so acquired karmas came to fruition guards shackled him and seated him on a red hot platen, tied a red hot strip of iron on his head, goaded his body with spears and swords and sprinkled molten lead and salt on the wounds. He continued to suffer extreme agony.
(ii) Another example of suffering such grave torments is that of ascetic Khandhak who was skinned by butchers when his Karkash vedaniya karmas came to fruition.
The main causes of acquiring Karkash vedaniya karmas are continued indulgence in the 18 sources of sin--violence, falsity, stealing, adultery, possession, anger, conceit, deceit, greed, attachment (libido), aversion, dispute, blaming falsely, inculpating someone, slandering, indiscipline, betray and wrong belief or unrighteousness.
In the illustrations anger is presented as hissing snake, conceit as mad elephant, deceit as fish catching heron, greed as a mice collecting grains, and aversion as fighting snake and mongoose.
